After years of waiting, fans have been hyped up for the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom next month, but as it turns out, some leakers are not going to make things smooth-sailing for the fandom, or Nintendo.
As reported by Kotaku, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been leaked a week ahead of its release, with physical copies popping up in reseller shops for hundreds of dollars and some players pirating the game and attempting to stream it on Twitch.
For now, various Discord servers sharing footage from the game have been shut down, and any streamers that have attempted to play pirated copies have also been suspended. With Nintendo being completely serious when it comes to copyright and piracy, fans are expecting their legal team to go on full investigation mode to find out who’s responsible for the leak of one of their most anticipated games of the year.
For now, fans are just trying their best not to get spoiled online, so if you don’t want anything ruined when it comes to the story, it’s probably best to put up filters and block Legend of Zelda buzzwords on social media until the game’s release.
Better yet, just keep off social media until May 12.
The official description reads:
An epic adventure awaits in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game, only on the Nintendo Switch system.
In this sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game, you’ll decide your own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and the mysterious islands floating in the vast skies above. Can you harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight back against the malevolent forces that threaten the kingdom?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom officially launches for the Nintendo Switch on May 12.
