The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is enormous. As such, it’s possible you may never experience every single piece of content in it. Like — did you know there’s a dinosaur in Red Dead 2? Well, not a living one. The bones of one — called a Totalisaurus — are scattered about the map. And in one particular quest, you’re asked to collect them all.
Once you do, you can see the dinosaur in its assembled form. It is truly something to behold.
I would recommend you not watch that clip if you don’t want the surprise spoiled.
So, how do you start yourself on this prehistoric mission? And where do you find all these dinosaur bones?
First things first — you need to talk to a woman by the name of Deborah MacGuiness. She’s a paleontologist and, apparently, the only person who believes the Totalisaurus ever existed. You can find her by pulling up your map, locating the point between Flatneck Station and the Oil Derrick under the “Heartlands” label, then visiting that location.
From there, she’ll give you a quest called “A Test of Faith.” You’ll need to collect 30 dinosaur bones to complete the set and see the beast in all its glory.
Polygon has a pretty fantastic guide on where to find all the bones, so I will direct you to that. It has a full-on illustrated map for the first 22 bones, plus descriptions of how to find the remaining eight you gain access to later in the game.
With that, you are now 100% clued in on what the Totalisaurus is and how you can find it and see it for yourself. It just goes to show you — if you thought you’d done everything that Red Dead Redemption 2 had to offer, you may have been wrong.
