To progress in Township, you’ll need a steady source of hammers and other building materials. While the game is generally generous with giving players much-needed items, building materials are primarily lottery-based. By far, the most prominent source of building materials are trains that players load with goods.
Occasionally, players might have very little of one material and an overabundance of others. We’re here to help if you need a bit more hammers.
How to Get Hammers in Township?
Unfortunately, there’s no definite way to obtain hammers specifically in the game. While some building materials are pricier than others, the game has a heavily randomized system to provide players with materials for possible upgrades. Hammers are only one of several options mixed into the loot pool for every random event.
That said, there are a few ways to improve your odds of finding hammers around your and your friends’ towns.
Use Trains
One of the best ways to get more construction materials is to load up the trains that leave your town. Whenever a train returns, it has a chance to give you some much-needed hammers.
The trains are typically relatively slow, but you can speed them up by paying for boosts and upgrading them over time. With a speed-up, you can get a train going every two to two-and-a-half hours. This boost is excellent if you have breaks throughout the day, allowing you more chances to catch trains as soon as they get back and load them up again.
Get Market Offers
Market sales are another common way to get more construction materials, including hammers. The offers cycle regularly, so don’t forget to check daily for current sales.
Open Treasure Chests
Treasure chests are loot-filled tools that players can find in three ways:
- Visiting friends’ towns every day
- Restoring the port after Level 29 once a day
- Sending full airplanes away
Devote Some Time and Funds to the Lottery
If nothing else works, go to the House of Luck. Construction materials like hammers are only one of the possible options, but you never know.
Weekly Regattas
If you participate in weekly regatta events, you can score some sweet loot as part of the prizes. This is one of the rarer ways to get more hammers and other building materials, but you can’t lose much by entering.
Use Cash
You can also rely on cold, hard cash to pay your way for anything you might need, hammers included. If you want to progress faster through the game, you can just spend some money on needed upgrades.
Keep Your Material Balances Even
For some reason, the game’s random algorithm seems to prefer giving you more of an item you already have, perhaps to entice you to buy the ones you lack.
Sell the items you have an excess of to get valuable resources and keep your materials evenly spread out. This strategy might fool the system if it exists.
Some players also think that selling a hammer makes the system believe you don’t need them, thus giving you more of them. If you can spare one hammer to get more, this can be a lucrative option.
Hammering Away in Township
While there are no direct ways to get the materials, you need short of paying for them with real money; the game is generous enough to provide a steady stream of resources your way. It’s just a matter of luck and waiting around.
