Resident Evil 4 was pretty much the game that brought the RE franchise to the modern survival/horror genre, and with Capcom remaking the first three games, we’ve now come full circle with the remake of RE 4.
Thanks to Game Informer, we have a look at 12 minutes of gameplay. Take not, this isn’t original footage from the source, but gameplay provided by Capcom; nevertheless, it does give us a good look at the fifth chapter of the game which has Leon and Ashley attempting to escape a church. Check this out:
The Resident Evil 4 remake is Game Informer’s cover story for February, and as part of our ongoing features, we’re sharing an extended gameplay walkthrough of the game’s fifth chapter, set right after Leon meets Ashley.
With the original game coming out in 2005, you can imagine the massive jump in development when it comes to the remake; not just improved aesthetics, but gameplay and combat systems as well.
In the provided clip, you can see that Leon is now capable of updating several more of his weapons including his knives, and he can instantly stab anyone who is trying to take Ashley away.
So far, the game looks fantastic, and after the release of this title, we should expect the franchise to keep moving forward—unless someone comes up with another prequel for the series.
Here’s the official description for the game:
Survival is just the beginning.
Six years have passed since the biological disaster in Raccoon City.
Agent Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been sent to rescue the president’s kidnapped daughter.
He tracks her to a secluded European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the locals.
And the curtain rises on this story of daring rescue and grueling horror where life and death, terror and catharsis intersect.
The Resident Evil 4 remake is set to release on March 24 for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
