Viola is a new protagonist you play in Bayonetta 3. Viola is an Umbra Witch in training and subsequently has a different move set than the seasoned Bayonetta. Check out never-before-seen gameplay in our exclusive cover story breakdown.

Though Bayonetta is the more experienced witch when it comes to the lore, Viola is supposed to be a witch-in-training, but even if her skills aren’t as flashy as Bayonetta, she still packs quite a punch. Besides her katana which she wields against enemies, she also has her magical cat companion Cheshire.

Though Bayonetta is able to fully control monsters with her Demon Masquerade ability, Viola is only able to summon Cheshire, and Cheshire pretty much just does what it can automatically, unlike Bayonetta’s demons who the player can control as well.

Here’s the official description for Bayonetta 3:

Bayonetta struts through multiple locations in an all-new, over-the-top climax action game for Nintendo Switch. Sporting a wicked new ensemble and somehow familiar pigtails, the titular Umbra Witch must face a mysterious evil using her signature guns and time-slowing Witch Time ability. This time, invading man-made bioweapons called Homunculi find themselves in Bayonetta’s crosshairs.

Bayonetta 3 launches for the Nintendo Switch on Oct. 28.
