We don’t have any idea when the next RoboCop movie could come out, but we are getting a game in the form of RoboCop: Rogue City sometime later this year. The game has been teased for months, but we now have a gameplay overview that gives us a look at the retro-futuristic Detroit.

Here’s the official description:

Welcome to Detroit; crime runs rampant as the city lies on the edge of ruin, people fighting for scraps as others live extravagant lives of luxury. Control of the Detroit Police Department is given to the Omni Consumer Products corporation in an attempt to restore order.

You are that solution, RoboCop, a cyborg tasked with protecting the city.

Admittedly, the game looks pretty plain, and it feels kind of like Cyberpunk 2077 with some limited weapon options. Then again, with the movie embracing the ‘80s futuristic aesthetic, I do love how clunky all the graphics feel, especially with RoboCop’s HUD.

With RoboCop tricked out with all kinds of gadgets in the films, I hope he has an array of weapons he can be able to access in the game. I don’t know what to expect with the story, but it’s very likely they could be skipping out on the retelling of the origin and just have us straight into the shoes of one of 80s cinema’s most iconic figures.

RoboCop: Rogue City is expected to launch this September for PlayStation 4|5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
