PAX East 2023 just came with a lot of great reveals for video games, and one highly-anticipated game that got the spotlight was Final Fantasy XVI.
Square Enix held an entire panel to give an overview for FFXVI, and you can watch the whole thing here thanks to GameSpot. Check this out:
The panel essentially follows producer Naoki Yoshida and Final Fantasy dev Koji Fox as they breakdown all the elements of the upcoming game, from the characters, world, and battle system.
Though FFXVI has all the trademark elements that make a Final Fantasy game, fans are still expecting a whole new story for a mainline entry in the franchise. Based on what we’ve seen in previous trailers, we’re going to be getting these massive-scale kaiju fights where players will be duking out action on a grand scale fitting of the Final Fantasy IP.
No doubt we’ll be getting more reveals as the June release date nears.

An epic dark fantasy world where the fate of the land is decided by the mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them.
This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title “First Shield of Rosaria” and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the dominant of the Phoenix. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.
Final Fantasy XVI launches for the PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023.
