How to Find Iron
Iron is a common crafting component in 7 Days to Die, and it can be mined, scavenged, or salvaged from any location and biome in the game. Here’s a list of sources where you can collect iron.
Find Iron from Iron Ores
The primary source of Iron in 7 Days to Die is Iron Ores. You can find these ores as boulders with rust or brown color around them anywhere in the game. Simply mine the ores using a pickaxe to collect iron.
Once you destroy the boulder, there’s more iron to collect underneath. Many players make the mistake of only harvesting the iron on the surface. After mining the iron ore found above ground, check the spot underneath it, and you’ll notice some rust on the ground.
Iron Ores are indicators that there’s more Iron underground. Dig down using a pickaxe to collect them until you no longer receive iron.
To find Iron Ore on your map quickly, press M on your keyboard. The Iron Ores are indicated as small brown squares.
Disassemble Metal-like Objects
Iron can be obtained by destroying metal-like objects in the game, such as decaying vehicles, air vents, broken generators, metal sheeting, metal window frames, iron shelves, and much more. You can disassemble them using a wrench, ratchet, or an impact driver to collect iron.
Search the Buildings
Missions and Quests are usually done in buildings. Make it a habit to search every piece of furniture and object to loot iron. You can scavenge iron from cabinets, trash cans, cars, bags, boxes, and more.
While this method yields fewer resources than mining and disassembling, it’s still a decent source, especially during mission runs.
Conclusion
The fastest way to collect iron is undoubtedly by mining in the overworld. Fortunately, there are plenty of iron ore nodes that reset. The frequency at which these resources replenish depends on your settings, which you can easily adjust before loading your saved file.
