Infection in 7 Days to Die could lead to your untimely death. Here are the best ways to cure infection in the game.

7 Days to Die: Best Ways to Cure Infection

Infection is one of the punishing statuses players contract if a zombie or infected animal hits them. The infection progresses to four stages unless you use antibiotics to cure it. Otherwise, the infection instantly kills you once it reaches the fourth stage.

Keep in mind that the progression of infection will accelerate if you get hit by zombies while under this negative status. Your stamina will also be reduced, preventing you from surviving prolonged combat. To prevent new cases of infection during intense combat scenarios, you should take vitamins. However, they will only protect you for the duration of their buff but won’t cure or reduce any existing infections.

Cure Infection with Jar of Honey

In 7 Days to Die, the best treatment for an early stage of infection is using a Jar of Honey. The Jar of Honey is a natural antibiotic that you can consume to instantly cure 5% of the infection.

You can find a Jar of Honey in various Medical Supplies, such as Pop-in-Pill Crates, Medicine Cabinets, Ambulances, Stacks of Pills, and other medical containers.

In the wild, you can harvest Jars of Honey by destroying tree stumps, which have a 20% chance of yielding a jar of honey. This chance increases to 40% if the tree stumps are located near Points of Interest, such as houses, parks, garages, stores, and other buildings.

After reading Wasteland Treasures: Honey, for a 5% chance, you can harvest a Jar of Honey from trees.

Craft and Use Herbal Antibiotics

Another way to cure infection is by crafting and using Herbal Antibiotics. Unlike Jar of Honey, Herbal Antibiotics can be crafted once you have read 30 Medical Journal. The pill can be made at a Campfire, but crafting them in a Chemistry Station is more efficient as it requires fewer materials. Herbal Antibiotics will cure 10% of Infections and can also be found in medical supplies.

Craft and Use Antibiotics

Antibiotic 7 Days to Die

Antibiotics are the most effective way to cure infection, reducing it by 25%. You can craft Antibiotics in Campfire, but you’ll use fewer ingredients if you craft them in the Chemistry Station.

There’s also a chance to find antibiotics in medical supplies like medicine cabinets, pill cases, and supply crates, though the drop rate is relatively low.

NOTE: The infection debuff will be fully removed once the infection hits 0%.

Prevent Infection

The best way to combat infection is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Taking Vitamins grants you 100% Disease Resistance and cures Fatigue for 12 minutes, with the effect stackable for up to 36 minutes (three vitamin pills). If vitamins are unavailable, use mid to long-range weapons such as spears for melee and guns for range combat.

Conclusion

At the early stage of the game, it’s best to look for tree stumps around the city to collect Jar of Honey before taking on missions. While crafting antibiotics is useful, unlocking the recipe (which requires 30 Medical Journals) can take some time. In the meantime, it’s wise to collect and store medical supplies in case you need to cure infections later.
