A week ago, 2K Games had given us our look at the star-studded, narrative-driven game The Quarry, and now IGN has released about 30 minutes of gameplay for this interactive horror story.
Watch this:
While the series does have a more extensive cast, the clip we got only focuses on three characters played by Skyler Gisondo, Siobhan Williams, and Ted Raimi.
From the get-go, you can see a lot of horror movie homages, and the camera zooming through the forest is something straight out of Evil Dead; they even put in Raimi’s credit during this scene (Ted Raimi’s brother, Sam Raimi, directed the Evil Dead franchise).
Other actors included in the cast are Brenda Song, Ariel Winter, and Justice Smith. The movie even brings in David Arquette, whose horror legend comes from his appearance in the Scream movies.
The game is considered Supermassive Games’ spiritual successor to 2015’s Until Dawn. While you can play it like any narrative-based game, there is also a ‘Movie Mode’ available, which will let you watch the entire game as a ‘binge-worthy cinematic thriller.’
When the sun goes down on the last night of summer camp, nine teenage counselors are plunged into an unpredictable night of horror.
How will your story unfold? Play as each of the nine camp counselors in a thrilling cinematic tale, where every decision shapes your unique story from a tangled web of possibilities. Any character can be the star of the show—or die before daylight comes.
The Quarry is set to come to PlayStation 4|5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S this June 10. It is also now available for pre-order.
