Gotham Knights was originally expected to come out in 2021, but the game had been delayed to this coming October.
Just in case fans were expecting another delay out of the blue, WB Montreal has announced that their upcoming Batman spinoff has already gone gold—meaning that the game has been completed and it’s now ready to be packed and shipped. Here’s the announcement:
It’s no mystery that Gotham Knights is an ambitious game and is trying to take on the Arkham mantle (well, at least before the release of Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League). The developers had built a new Gotham City from the ground up and has made sure that each of the playable characters is as diverse as ninja turtles.
I guess the fact that the game has been pulled from old-gen consoles is also the reason why fans are suspecting that Gotham Knights is going to be a huge game. While a huge chunk of players won’t be able to access it on their old consoles, I think that GK could still have a chance to soar with positive reviews—that is, if the critics think the game is great.
I’ll admit, a lot of the elements of Gotham Knights feel kind of iffy from the character designs to the choice of powers, but I’m sure that WB Montreal is looking to please some specific audience members when it comes to each Knight.
Hopefully they manage to stick the landing.
Gotham Knights launches for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on Oct. 25.
