Here’s yet another XP bug that’s plaguing Diablo Immortal servers globally.
XP is just as good as Gold in grind-heavy ARPG games such as Diablo Immortal. Gaining as much XP as possible in a short period can improve a player’s strength and capability just as well as upgrading and buying equipment, thanks to the Paragon Mechanic.
So, it is understandable when players start complaining about not getting the same amount of XP for every dungeon run in the game. After all, players rinse and repeat their favorite dungeons and clear the same mobs for hours because the XP-time ratio these present is attractive to them.
Resident Diablo Immortal Detective
A Reddit user posted a thread on Reddit sharing his dismay after learning that his go-to camps and site to clear mobs haven’t been giving out a consistent amount of XP. So, he took out his DIY-detective kit and did some digging himself.
u/staplepies and a couple of other Redditors came up with the following information about the bug:
- The XP bug affects kills and XP globes
- The bug value follows a 1 to X-1 formula where X represents the typical, expected XP for that area.
- Bugged kills don’t match bugged XP globes. (Normally, these two would have the same XP values.)
- Varies from one player to another.
In addition, u/staplepies also posted some variables that might be causing the bug, such as Time of day, Zone, and type of Activity.
Ruling Out The Possibilities
u/staplepies didn’t stop there, as they worked together with other members of the r/DiabloImmortal subreddit to rule out a couple of hypotheses about why the XP bug might be occurring.
Some factors such as the number of party members, distance from party members, Summons/buffs/abilities, and XP penalty have been ruled out when players couldn’t replicate the scenarios reliably.
Blizzard Help
As u/staplepies expressed in his Reddit thread, the bug is “random enough that only the developers will have enough information to figure out why it’s happening.” Assuming the bug is completely unintended by Blizzard, players will have no choice but to try and get a Blizzard official’s attention to take a look at this supposed bug. Until then, players must keep grinding and hoping for the best XP rewards in Diablo Immortal.
