Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
In the game, there are certain Pokemon that the player cannot catch or are hard to catch in the wild. One of the methods to catch these Pokemon is through evolution. One of these Pokemon is Magmortar, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Magmar into a Magmortar!
Magmar into Magmortar
Magmortar is a Fire-type Blast Pokemon that looks like a humanoid with red and yellow stripes, a body shaped like an egg, flames on its head, shoulders, and tail, spikes on its back, and yellow tubular arms. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, the fireballs launched from the ends of Magmortar’s tubular arms are hot enough to melt an iron pot in an instant.
Magmortar is very hard to find as it can only be found inside Space-Time Distortions in the Coronet Highlands. Other than that, Magmortar can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Cobalt Coastlands.
However, if you would instead obtain a Magmortar through evolution, the player can catch one by evolving a Magmar using a Magmarizer. To do that, the player must first know where to find a Magmar.
Magmar
The player may find a Magmar on the path to the top of Firespit Island, which is in the northeasternmost part of the Cobalt Coastlands. Magmar can be found in these locations in every weather condition. However, it can only be found in these locations during the day. Aside from that, Magmar may also be found in Space-Time Distortions or Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Cobalt Coastlands and in the Alabaster Icelands.
If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Magmar’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.
Suppose you plan on battling a Magmar first before catching it. In that case, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Magmar is a Fire-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Ground-type, Rock-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to the Bug-type, Fairy-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).
Magmarizer
Now that the player has caught a Magmar, all that is needed to evolve a Magmar to Magmortar is a Magmarizer. There are several ways that the player can obtain a Magmarizer:
The player can purchase a Magmarizer for 10,000 Pokemon Dollars from Ginter at the Gingko Guild Shop in between the Galaxy Hall and the player’s headquarters. However, Ginter will call it a Magma Box. Unfortunately, the items that the Gingko Guild Merchants sell are not the same, so purchasable items may vary. To change the items that Ginter is selling, the player must first catch 20 Pokemon.
The player can also purchase a Magmarizer from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for only 1400 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost satchels all over the Hisui region.
Other than that, the player may find some Magmarizers on the ground inside of Space-Time Distortions, so make sure to check out the items inside them
Out of all the methods mentioned above, the easiest way to obtain a Magmarizer is by purchasing one from the Trading Post for 1400 Merit Points.
Finally, Magmortar!
After catching a Magmar and obtaining a Magmarizer, the player can evolve a Magmar into a Magmortar!
To do that, this is what the player must do:
- Put the player’s Magmar in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps, selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt, or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
- Then, make sure that the Magmarizer is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any of the Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Magmarizer to the player’s Satchel.
- After that, return to the game and press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
- Select the Magmarizer, select “Use” on the prompt, then select Magmar from the player’s party to use the Magmarizer on Magmar.
- Confirm on the prompt to evolve Magmar then, just like that, Magmar will evolve into a Magmortar!
Now that the player has a Magmortar, the player can try to use the Magmortar to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ’em all!
