A third Sonic the Hedgehog movie is currently underway, but on the game front, SEGA is gearing up for the release of the open-world RPG Sonic Frontiers.
Just in, the game has dropped a new trailer for the Tokyo Game Show, and it features some of those classic Sonic tunes; this trailer features Vandalize by ONE OK ROCK. Check this out:
With franchises like Kingdom Hearts being known for their edgy theme songs, I guess it could be something expected when it comes to any huge RPG game. Who knows, maybe Vandalize is just one of an entire soundtrack of late 00s edgy rock music.
As far as the game goes, it really feels like Sonic has been thrust in a world that’s not as cartoon-y as he is. While the Sonic games have had him going up against crazy robots and other creatures like him, it feels like the monsters from this game are straight out of Shadow of the Colossus.
Well, if it’s taking a the franchise a unique direction, I’m all up for it.
The Starfall Islands are home to strange and menacing foes that Sonic has never encountered before. Using an all-new battle system, join Sonic in confronting these titanic threats with upgraded combat skills, evasive maneuvers, and a few familiar tricks up his sleeve. Jump into adventure, harness the power of the Emeralds, and fight to stop these new, mysterious enemies!
Sonic Frontiers is expected to launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4|5, and Nintendo Switch on Nov. 8.
