The first Star Wars Jedi game, Fallen Order, was considered as ‘Diet Dark Souls’ to a lot of players, but it was a massive hit, and a lot of people are ready for Cal Kestis’ next adventure. As it turns out, the upcoming game, Survivor may have taken a leaf out of Ghost of Tsushima’s book.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will Add 5 Lightsaber Stances to the Game

Talking to Game Informer, director Stig Asmussen confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be introducing five different lightsaber stances for Cal to switch between in the game. Asmussen says:

“We have five fully realized stances in the game. A lot of it depends on the enemy that you’re coming across. It’s advantageous to use certain types of stances against certain types of enemies, and it’s up to the player to figure that out. It requires the player to break down the enemies and figure out what the best weapon of choice is.”

In the first game, Cal is able to switch between the single saber, dual sabers, and the double-bladed saber. In this game, Cal is able to use a form that combines the use of a  blaster and a saber, and he also has a new form that allows him to use a crossguard—much like Kylo Ren. Asmussen explains:

“It’s a more confident approach. It’s weighty; it’s beefy. But you have to be very measured on how you use it because the timing windows are longer with the blade.”

I can’t wait to check out more of the fighting styles. I’m just hoping we get to fight alongside other members of the Mantis crew like Merrin (maybe make her an Atreus sidekick-type like from God of War?)

We don’t know when we’ll get our next look, but Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is aiming for a launch on March 17, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
