Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is one of the surprising hit games of the year, and the title just got a new update from the developers at Tribute Games.
Now players can make customized game modes, and the official update on Steam reads:
A new Arcade mode is here: Custom Game! Just like an actual arcade machine: customize your game experience using DIP switches: free play, old-school Super Attacks, faster enemies, no more taunts, and many more! You can see the customization in the lobbies of Custom Games. Achievements’ progression and unlocking is disabled in Custom Games.
Of course, there are also a bunch of other fixes for the game like a host being able to set the maximum number of players in a lobby as well as some new graphic filters like CRT and VCR. You can read all about the update here.
Despite the game banking on nostalgia, Shredder’s Revenge managed to bring a fresh new feel to the TMNT gaming IP, and this should hopefully open up doors to a sequel. Though I love the classic aesthetic, I think it would be great if we also got a choice of skins for all the characters, and they could draw inspiration from all the incarnations of the Turtles throughout the years like the Michael Bay TMNT and the latest incarnation with Rise of the TMNT on Nickelodeon.
Not to mention, there’s that upcoming animated reboot from Seth Rogen, so maybe they should work on some cosmetics for that film.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is now available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4|5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
