Where to Find an Alpha Rhyperior in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the olden times of the Pokemon universe when coexistence between humans and Pokemon was uncommon. The player will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. This game is set in Hisui, also known as modern-day Sinnoh. The player will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

The Hisui region is packed with Pokemon who are larger than their usual counterparts, have bright red eyes, and are filled with Wild Might, which boosts all of their stats, lessens the damage they take from status ailments and gives them increased combat abilities. They are known as Alpha Pokemon.

This guide will teach you where to find an Alpha Rhyperior in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!

Alpha Pokemon

The level of the Alpha Pokemon will always be higher than that of its ordinary counterparts. Except for Mantyke and Mantine, they are always aggressive and never flee once they see the player (except when the type of Alpha Pokemon appears during a certain time of day or if a Space-Time Distortion appears around them). When an alpha Pokemon notices the player, it will roar and send a shockwave. If the player is close enough, they may be stunned and briefly knocked to the ground.

Regardless of the level of the Alpha Pokemon, the player can catch it by engaging in combat with it before eventually tossing a Poke Ball. However, the player cannot do this if their current obedience level is substantially lower than the level of the Alpha Pokemon. However, the player can capture Alpha Pokemon without engaging in combat by sneaking up on it in tall grass or utilizing stealth items before tossing a Poke Ball.

Additionally, suppose the player is having trouble catching an Alpha Pokemon. In that case, they can boost their chances by improving their Star Rank (also known as their Survey Corps rank), which they can do by performing Research Tasks and speaking with Professor Laventon in any of the Base Camps.

There are three different kinds of Alpha Pokemon in the game: fixed Alpha Pokemon, which will always spawn in specific locations and always be at a fixed level; random Alpha Pokemon, which may only appear after the player has calmed the area’s frenzied Noble Pokemon; and Alpha Pokemon in Massive Mass Outbreaks, which can appear as a second wave in the same location as the first wave.

As the other two are completely random, we will discuss fixed Alpha Pokemon, specifically an Alpha Rhyperior.

Alpha Rhyperior

Rhyperior is a Rock and Ground-Type Drill Pokemon with an orange and brownish-gray body with a huge horn on its snout and a smaller horn above it, rocky plates on its head, shoulders, arms, waist, and knees, protrusions that resemble blades on its elbows, and cannon-like holes on the palms of its hands.

Rhyperior’s rock-like hide, according to its Pokedex entry in the game, can withstand a blow from a masterwork sword without even a scratch and is made of a mysterious substance.

An Alpha Rhyperior can be found slightly south of the Sacred Plaza (east of Stonetooth Row or west of Primeval Grotto) in the Coronet Highlands and can be found in the area mentioned at all times of the day and in every weather condition. The Alpha Rhyperior found in this location is a Level 74 Pokemon.

It is advised to sneak up behind the Alpha Pokemon, using tall grass or stealth items such as Smoke Bombs, and throw the player’s Pokemon or Poke Ball on its back to catch it off guard, ensuring that the player moves first in battle.

It’s important to note that Rhyperior’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans if you intend to lure it with food before catching it.

Suppose you plan on battling a Rhyperior first before catching it. In that case, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Rhyperior is a Rock and Ground-type Pokemon, meaning it is weak (super effective) to Fighting-type, Ground-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and especially Grass-type and Water-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Fire-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, Rock-type, and especially Poison-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Electric-type moves.

Aside from the Alpha Rhyperior found in the Coronet Highlands, the regular, non-alpha Rhyperior can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands and the Coronet Highlands.

Now that the player has an Alpha Rhyperior, the player can try to use the Alpha Rhyperior to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player to catch ‘em all!
