Where to Find an Alpha Mamoswine in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the early days of the Pokemon universe when humans and Pokemon were at odds.

This game occurs in the Hisui region, later renamed Sinnoh in the current Pokemon universe.

The player will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team) and the Survey Corps at Jubilife Village, tasked to study every Pokemon in the region.

To complete Hisui’s first Pokédex, the player must catch every type of Pokémon present in this area.

In the game, Alpha Pokemon are more significant than their regular counterparts, have flaming red eyes, and are filled with Wild Might, which boosts their stats and combat abilities.

This guide will teach you where to find an Alpha Mamoswine in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!

Alpha Pokemon

Alpha Pokemon are always more powerful than their normal counterparts. They are all hostile (aside from Mantyke and Mantine), and they never leave when challenged by the player (except for when the type of Alpha Pokemon appears during a certain time of day or if a Space-Time Distortion appears around them).

When the player approaches an Alpha Pokemon too closely, it roars and emits a shockwave. The shockwave will lead the player to stumble and fall to the ground if the player is too close.

Any level of Alpha Pokemon can be caught by battling them before throwing a Poke Ball. If the player’s current obedience level is significantly lower than the Alpha Pokemon’s level, the player will be unable to capture them without engaging in combat. In contrast, the player can avoid battling by sneaking up on Alpha Pokemon in tall grass or utilizing stealth items before tossing a Poke Ball their way.

Suppose a player has difficulty catching an Alpha Pokemon. In that case, they can raise their Survey Corps rank by completing Research Tasks and consulting with Professor Laventon in any Base Camps.

In the game, the player can encounter three types of Alpha Pokemon: fixed Alpha Pokemon, which always spawn in the same areas and have the same level as the player; random Alpha Pokemon, which may appear only after the player calms the area’s agitated Noble Pokemon; and Alpha Pokemon in Massive Mass Outbreaks, which may appear as a second wave in the same location as the first wave of a Mass Outbreak.

We will look at fixed Alpha Pokemon, specifically an Alpha Mamoswine because the other two types are fully randomized.

Alpha Mamoswine

Mamoswine is a Ground and Ice-typee Twin Tusk Pokemon with a large, brown, and furry body that looks like that of a wooly mammoth mixed with a boar, two large tusks on its face, a pair of large eyes with very small pupils, a blue pattern around its eyes that looks like a face mask, a white rim outside of this blue pattern, a nose that looks like that of a pig’s, shaggy, tan-colored fur around its nose, four feet with each having three white and thick toes, and a small tail.

According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Mamoswine peaked during the ice age. Also, it is said that the Hisui region’s freezing climate is in harmony with Mamoswine’s nature, which is why its hidden potential is awakened.

An Alpha Mamoswine can be found in Avalugg’s Legacy (north of Bonechill Wastes or southeast of the Icepeak Camp) near the middle of the Alabaster Icelands.

Mamoswine can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. The Alpha Mamoswine found in this location is a Level 68 Pokemon.

Sneak up behind the Alpha Pokemon with tall grass and/or use other stealth items like Smoke Bombs, then put the player’s Pokemon or Poke Ball onto its back to catch it off guard and, if battling, ensure that the player strikes first.

Mamoswine enjoys Springy Mushrooms, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans, making them suitable treats to distract Mamoswine before catching or battling them.

Also, it is important to mention if you plan on battling it first before catching it, that Mamoswine, again, is a Ground and Ice-type Pokemon, which means it has a weakness to Fighting-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Poison-type moves (not very effective), and an immunity to Electric-type moves (no effect).

Aside from the Alpha Mamoswine in the location mentioned above, the regular, non-alpha Mamoswine can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Alabaster Icelands.

Now that the player has caught an Alpha Mamoswine, the player can try to use the Alpha Mamoswine to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ‘em all!
