Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the early years of the Pokemon universe when humans and Pokemon barely coexisted.
This game occurs in the Pokemon world’s Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh. The player must catch all of the Pokémon in this region to complete Hisui’s first Pokédex, which they use to study Pokemon.
As a member of the Galaxy Expedition Team (the Galaxy Team), the player will be assigned to the Survey Corps at Jubilife Village. This team is entrusted with researching every Pokemon in the region.
In the game, Alpha Pokemon are larger than regular Pokemon, have flaming red eyes, and are laden with Wild Might, which boosts their stats and battling abilities.
This guide will teach us where to find an Alpha Hisuian Goodra!
Alpha Pokemon
Alpha Pokemon are always more powerful than their normal counterparts. When the player approaches an Alpha Pokemon too closely, it roars and unleashes a shockwave.
The player will be staggered and tumble to the ground if they are too close to the shockwave. Except for Mantyke and Mantine, they are all hostile and will never leave if the player confronts them (except for when the type of Alpha Pokemon appears during a certain time of day or if a Space-Time Distortion appears around them).
Any level of Alpha Pokemon can be caught by battling them before throwing a Poke Ball. If the player’s obedience level is lower than the Alpha Pokemon’s level, they cannot capture them without engaging in battle.
The player can avoid battling by sneaking up on Alpha Pokemon in tall grass or utilizing stealth items before tossing a Poke Ball their way.
Suppose a player is having trouble capturing an Alpha Pokemon. In that case, they can improve their Survey Corp rank by completing Research Tasks and speaking with Professor Laventon at any Base Camps.
In the game, the player may encounter three types of Alpha Pokemon: fixed Alpha Pokemon, which always spawn in the same areas and have the same level as the player; random Alpha Pokemon, which may only appear after the player calms the area’s frenzied Noble Pokemon; and Alpha Pokemon in Massive Mass Outbreaks, which may occur as a second wave in the same location as the first wave of a Mass Outbreak.
Because the other two types are fully randomized, we will only look at fixed Alpha Pokemon, specifically an Alpha Hisuian Goodra.
Alpha Hisuian Goodra
Hisuian Goodra is a Dragon and Steel type Shell Bunker Pokemon with a purple body, a darker purple underside that reaches its jaw, a rounded face with a pair of droopy, gray eyes with green pupils, a rounded snout, two pairs of horns that look like antennae with one pair that looks like small nubs and the other pair that are thicker and longer and tips that are slightly curled, a gray spot on each side of its cheek, a pair of short, stubby arms, metallic slime dripping from its jaw and arms, a pair of short and stubby legs, a huge, spiral-shaped, and metallic shell on its back, and two gray spots on each side of the shell. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Hisuian Goodra has complete control over the hardness of its metallic shell. It also despises isolation and is exceedingly clingy, so it will be enraged and cause chaos if those closest to it leave its side.
An Alpha Hisuian Goodra can be found in the Ancient Quarry (northwest of Wayward Wood or southwest of Sonorous Path) in the southern part of the Coronet Highlands.
Hisuian Goodra can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. The Alpha Hisuian Goodra that can be found in this location is a Level 70 Pokemon.
Long grass and other stealth items like Smoke Bombs can sneak up behind the Alpha Pokemon, then throw the player’s Pokemon or Poke Ball onto its back to catch it by surprise and ensure that the player attacks first if battling.
Aside from the Alpha Hisuian Goodra in the location mentioned above, the player can also find an Alpha Hisuian Goodra inside the cavern in the middle of Lake Verity in the western part of the Obsidian Fieldlands as part of The Trial of Lake Verity mission (Mission 14).
The Alpha Hisuian Goodra that can be found here is Level 58, and the player must defeat or catch the Alpha Hisuian Goodra in the area to continue in the mission.
Hisuian Goodra prefers Plump Beans, making them perfect baits for diverting it before catching or battling it.
Also, it is important to mention, if you plan on battling it first before catching it, that Hisuian Goodra, again, is a Dragon and Steel-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Fighting-type and Ground-type moves (super effective), a resistance to the Bug-type, Electric-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, Psychic type, Rock-type, Steel-type, Water-type, and especially Grass-type moves, and immunity to Poison-type moves (no effect).
Aside from the Alpha Hisuian Goodra in the location mentioned above, the regular, non-alpha Hisuian Goodra can be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands.
Now that the player has caught an Alpha Hisuian Goodra, the player can try to use the Alpha Hisuian Goodra to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ‘em all!
