Minecraft is filled with various items players can obtain and use in the game. Items can either be crafted by players or obtained naturally from the world.
After entering the world for the first time, gamers immediately start punching any tree on-site to obtain wood. Furthermore, they obtain stones, blocks of raw iron, and other items like raw meat from farm animals.
Since its release over a decade ago, Minecraft has been known for its huge and diverse world, easy-to-understand game mechanics, and vast variety of items.
Each year, more and more items are introduced through a major update, improving the experience for players.
However, some items have been forgotten or are rarely used. The item’s usefulness is determined by whether it will help players progress further in the game or be used to create loads of other new things.
When neither of these conditions is met, they become useless and thus are rarely used. Despite being useless, some of these items have at least some role to play in the game.
1. Rabbit stew
Rabbit stew has been quite forgotten in the game. Rabbit stew is a food item in Minecraft with the most random yet realistic crafting recipe.
To make one, players need to mix a cooked rabbit, a carrot, a baked potato, a red or brown mushroom, and an empty bowl on the crafting table. As this recipe is complex and the item itself cannot be stacked into a bundle, players refrain from using it.
Rabbit stew restores five hunger points, making it the most filling food item in Minecraft overall. It is the fourth-best food item overall for saturation as well, meaning that rabbit stew is more than ideal for players whose hunger is half full or less.
However, Minecraft gamers may tend to avoid rabbit stew because it requires many more ingredients and a longer process than most other food items. Making rabbit stew is a task, but it might be worth it for some players.
2. Beetroot soup
Even though it is an amazing food item, beetroot soup is rarely used in the game, similar to rabbit stew. And surprisingly, some players don’t even know it exists.
Consuming beetroot soup is simply the same as consuming a cooked chicken, as it restores six hunger points. Players will need six beetroots and an empty bowl to craft one and place them on the crafting table.
The ingredients are relatively easy to obtain, but they also cannot be stacked, so players cannot carry much of it without giving up important inventory slots. Beetroots are often found growing in villages.
If you are playing on Bedrock and have a Novice level Farmer Villager, there’s a 25% chance they will sell you beetroots.
But if you are playing on Java, there’s a 40% chance they will sell you beetroots, which can make beetroot soup.
3. Recovery compass
The recovery compass is an item in Minecraft that was released along with the 1.19 update. Even though it is one of the newest addition to the game, some of the players have already forgotten about it.
The recovery compass points in the direction of the player’s last death, leading them to their lost items. The crafting ingredients for this item are also not easy to obtain.
Along with a regular compass, eight echo shards are required. However, the echo shard is a rare item found only in the chests of ancient cities. The Minecraft Recovery Compass always points to the position of your most recent death.
So as long as you keep one near your bed, ready to grab after any unfortunate incidents, you can quickly locate and return to where you just died.
Follow the compass directions, and you can then recover all your precious items and some of your hard-earned EXP. However, the Recovery Compass only points to your most recent death, provided you are in the same dimension as the one you died in.
So, for example, if you die in the Overworld and then go into the Nether, your Recovery Compass will just spin wildly until you return to the Overworld.
4. Leather horse armor
Horses are one of the most amazing mobs to tame in the game, especially when players are looking for a means of transportation. Players often equip their horses with armor but usually overlook leather horse armor. The reason is that diamonds, gold, and iron horse armor, though uncraftable, can be obtained easily from loot chests inside naturally-generated structures such as desert pyramids and ancient cities. They also provide much better protection than leather armor. The four types of Horse Armor in most versions of Minecraft are Leather, Iron, Gold, and Diamond. Horse Armor does not break over time like most Tools and Armor. Leather is the weakest, and despite Gold being the weakest armor material because of its low durability, Gold Horse Armor is slightly more effective than Iron Horse Armor. It provides more protection, and it is much rarer. Diamond Horse Armor is still the best type to use for protection regarding horse armor. Like other leather-based equipment in the game, leather Horse Armor can also be dyed.
5. Spectral arrow
Spectral arrows in Minecraft will outline mobs and players with a glowing effect when struck by them. Ever wanted to easily track a target regardless of line of sight or how many creatures there may be in the area? Well, spectral arrows in Minecraft can be a perfect solution for that. The bow and arrow is an awesome ranged weapon that is quite used by many of the players in the game. One spectral arrow can be crafted using four glowstone dust. The only perk of using it over a regular arrow is that the target’s body can be seen through blocks. For most Minecraft players, the benefits of using spectral arrows are not worth the cost of its crafting ingredients. Additionally, even if a player has the Infinity enchantment on their bow, spectral arrows are still consumed from the player’s inventory, making them less appealing to use. After one of these arrows successfully hits another player or a mob, the target hit will be outlined and receive the glowing effect. Doing so will help players maintain the vision of the target, regardless of the surroundings.
Minecraft has no shortage of items. The sheer quantity of usable items and blocks in the game is staggering. While most of these items have their uses, some are incredibly vital to players for their profound benefits and utility in everyday use. Certain items in Minecraft are useful for almost every type of player. They have multiple applications in different facets of the game, making them helpful for players regardless of whether they’re building, crafting, or interacting with the world.
