A few months ago, it was reported that there are five games in development based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth, and though we’ve seen Return to Moria and Gollum, we just got the gameplay reveal for Heroes of Middle-earth.
Check this out:
Though Peter Jackson’s take on Lord of the Rings is pretty much the blueprint for a lot of future Middle-earth content, Heroes of Middle-earth seems to be a blend of Jackson’s interpretation as well as its own original style. The characters do look a bit more cartoonish, and even the orc forces look to have a lot more color among them.
As far as gameplay goes, it looks like Heroes of Middle-earth is going to be a strategy game, with players taking on levels of all kinds of enemies and creatures. It’s also said that the game will be following the narrative that everyone is familiar with from the original books, so maybe missions could be based on events from the story and who characters run into at that time.
With a release set for May, we should probably expect some more reveals throughout the course of the month. While I expect major cast member in LOTR to make an appearance, I think it would be great if we can get some supporting faces as well, maybe even new characters from Amazon’s Rings of Power. Then again, it’s just a pitch.
