Do you want to change your character’s appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3? Here’s how.
Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to choose your character’s appearance. At some point in the game, however, you will likely get the itch to alter your character’s appearance to give them a fresh new tr. But how exactly do you do this in Baldur’s Gate 3?
In this quick guide, we will walk you through everything you need to know about changing your character’s appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Can you change your character’s Appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3?
At the start of Baldur’s Gate 3, you can customize your character’s appearance to your preferences. However, you can change your character’s appearance relative to your chosen class’ race and sub-race.
Nevertheless, you can choose your character’s body type, hair color, skin color, and eye color, and you can even add facial features such as freckles and pigmentation. Other customization options include voice, body art, and makeup, among many other options.
Unfortunately, after you complete the initial character creation phase at the start of the game, you cannot change your character’s appearance. You still have the option of changing out clothing through gear, but that’s about it. Your only current option is to create a new character and experiment with new character appearance combinations through that character.
How to Change Appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3?
As mentioned in the previous section, you cannot change your character’s appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3, at least not now. Your only appearance change options are to toggle your character’s clothing or use a shapeshifting item such as the Mask of the Shapeshifter – Headgear.
The Mask of the Shapeshifter – Headgear lets you choose from many preset options to change your character’s race and appearance. However, the Mask of the Shapeshifter only uses presets to alter your race and body type, and you cannot change your character’s finer details through this item.
Can you change your clothes in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Aside from the Mask of the Shapeshifter, clothing is one of the only things you can alter for your character look-wise in Baldur’s Gate 3. Unfortunately, you can only change your character’s clothing color and toggle your character’s clothing in different scenarios.
The only permanent change you can make to your character’s clothing is color through Dyes. Other options include toggles that alter your character’s clothing. For example, you can toggle your character’s helmet to show up only in combat but not cutscenes. You can also toggle your clothing to your camp set or even remove all your clothing to fight in your underwear.
Final Thoughts
Baldur’s Gate 3 does not offer a transmog system that allows you to change your character’s appearance post-character creation. That said, Larian Studios has confirmed that a character appearance change option is in the works and should arrive in the game soon.
Your only options to change your character’s appearance are through the Mask of the Shapeshifter, clothing Dyes, and clothing toggles.
