At the end of this year’s gamescom, the winners of the coveted gamescom awards are now announced. The awards in the still open categories were presented during the grand finale “gamescom: Best Of Show.” The first winners of the gamescom award had already been announced in numerous jury categories at the start of gamescom on Thursday during gamescom: Opening Night Live.
This year, the coveted Best Of gamescom award went to the title “Cyberpunk 2077”. The role play game developed by Polish studio CD PROJECT RED and distributed in Europe by Bandai Namco was also able to impress the jury in the categories of Best Sony PlayStation Game, Best PC Game and Best Role-Playing Game. gamescom fans as well chose the futuristic action role-playing game in the consumer voting as the most hotly anticipated of all the games nominated for the gamescom award.
In the eyes of the jury, publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment delivered the best lineup of gamescom 2020, including the multiple award-winning “Cyberpunk 2077,” the best simulation “Project CARS 3” and another score with “Little Nightmares 2” from the Swedish Tarsier Studios, which won an award for its outstanding trailer and is the Best Nintendo Switch Game of gamescom 2020. 2K is sure to be pleased with two awards for the gangster epic “Mafia: Definitive Edition” as Best Remaster and long-time hit “Borderlands 3” as Best Ongoing Game.
gamescom fans voted Erik “Gronkh” Range as their favorite streamer. And as Best Show, they chose the World of Tanks Blitz gamescom stream from Wargaming.
This year’s special jury prize, HEART OF GAMING Award, went to the all-digital Indie Arena Booth, a virtual walk-through MMO designed by Super Crowd Entertainment within a few months.
