Resident Evil Showcase has concluded and for all the build up, was quite the quaint affair. The stream kicked off with some yet another teaser for the upcoming Resident Evil: Village. Following the teaser, producer Pete Fabiano revealed that the game will also release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, on top of the pre-announced PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC. With a release date of May 7th 2021, Fabiano went on to announce the Digital Deluxe Edition, available on all platforms. “Players will be able to heighten their survival horror experience with extra content, including in-game items that call back to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.”
Also announced was the Collector’s Edition, including all of the Deluxe Edition content, as well as a figure of Chris Redfield, a steelbook case, poster and artbook. You will also receive the Mr. Raccoon Weapon Accessory and Survival Resource Pack as bonus for preordering the game, while Digital Preorders will reward you with a digital soundtrack for the game.
Additionally, Fabiano confirmed that PlayStation 5 users will have an exclusive first look at Resident Evil: Village through the ‘Maiden’ demo, which will see you take control of a different character to Ethan Winters and focus on the visuals and atmosphere of Resident Evil: Village, with no combat involved. For those without a PS5 Fabiano revealed that a separate demo was looking to be released in Spring 2021.

Following the gameplay, Producer Tsuyoshi Kanda announced RE:Verse. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Resident Evil RE:Verse appears to be a PVP title pitting a roster of iconic characters from the franchise against each other, and will be free for those who purchase Resident Evil: Village. We then moved onto an announcement from Yannick Banchereau from Massive Entertainment who revealed that to celebrate the anniversary there will be some Resident Evil Original Trilogy outfits and items available to collect in The Division 2, with everyone who logs in during the event receiving Leon’s RPD outfit as a “warm-up”.
The Division 2 x Resident Evil content can be viewed in the showcase above (-14:50).
Hiroyuki Kobayashi, producer of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, was up next to confirm plot details for the CGI-Animated film.
“Set a few years after RE4, we find Leon-looking sharp in a suit-getting caught up in another zombie outbreak.” Kobayashi states as the trailer shows Leon and fellow series mainstay Claire Redfield. The movie will release worldwide on Netflix in 2021.
That concluded the showcase, you can check out all of the announcements via the Resident Evil YouTube and Twitter accounts.
