In Genshin Impact, characters are in-game items you can get by making wishes. Making a wish is the game’s gacha mechanic that will give players a randomized 5-star or 4-star character.
You will need Primogems, Intertwined or Acquaint Fates, and a great deal of luck to get your desired character.
A Primogem is a special in-game currency, while Intertwined Fate and Acquaint Fate are exclusive for making wishes.
There are two types of wish banners where you can make a wish: The Standard Wish and the Character Event Wish banners.
You can access the wish banners by clicking on this icon or by pressing F3.
Standard Wish Banner
The Standard Wish banner is a permanent banner where non-event-exclusive items, such as characters and weapons, are available.
In this banner, you can obtain either a character or a weapon. You will need Acquaint Fates and Primogems to make wishes in this banner.

In every ten (10) wishes, you will surely to get at least one (1) 4-star character and in every ninety (90) wishes, it is a guarantee that you will get at least one (1) 5-star item.
Character Event Wish Banner
The Character Event Wish banner features a time-limited 5-star character and three (3) 4-star characters with an increased drop rate.
In this banner, 5-star weapons are not available, but it includes all other characters that are available in the Standard Wish banner. You will need Intertwined Fates and Primogems to make wishes in this banner.
Here are the items available for wishing from this banner:
For the event banner, in every ten (10) wishes, you will surely get at least one (1) 4-star character. If the first 4-star item you get is not one of the featured 4-star characters, it is guaranteed that the next 4-star item is one of the featured 4-star characters.
In ninety (90) wishes, you will surely get at least one (1) 5-star item. If the 5-star item you get is not the featured character, then it is guaranteed that the next 5-star item is the featured 5-star character.
If you don’t get a 5-star or 4-star item, you will get one of these 3-star weapons in both banners. These items have higher drop rates compared to items with higher rarity.
Getting a duplicate character will give their Stella Fortuna instead. This will unlock a constellation level for that character. Constellations improve a character’s talents and provide new abilities.
