Swimming can be a big part of Valhalla. There aren’t many battles that will actually happen in water, but there are certain elements in the game which require you to go into the depths of huge bodies of water.
Surely, there is some combat that you will experience in water, but certainly not while swimming. Diving in water will usually help you to get to certain spots and locations, as well as to find hidden treasures and wealth.
How to Dive – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Swimming and diving in Valhalla are pretty easy. I guess the developers didn’t need to focus as much on this mechanic, but it actually feels like they did.
Compared to other similar AAA titles, Valhalla trumps all competition when it comes to water physics and actual swimming.
But enough of that, let’s get to how to dive in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla:
- PC:
To dive in water in Valhalla press the C button on your keyboard. You can use SPACE to swim upwards and SHIFT to lunge.
- PS4 and PS5
As for diving on a PS system, then you need to use Circle. Just make sure you are holding it! To swim up use the X button.
- Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X
And lastly, if you want to dive on an Xbox, you need to use the B button. It’s the same style as on the PS, i.e. you need to hold it. For swimming up though, hold A button.
Keep in mind that you will need to hold these buttons to ascend or descend into the water.
Also, this are the default controls for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, so if you have changed anything, you should go into your controls and check on which key these actions are bound to!
Lastly, this isn’t a superhero game. What do I mean by this? Well, you will lose air as you descend into the depths, so keep a close eye on your air consumption which will be in the bottom left corner.
If you lose all of your air when you are underwater, you will start losing your health. Be careful!
