It’s been a while since we got a AAA Transformers game, but after the release of the trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, The Game Awards has decided to give us a look at Transfomers: Reactivate from developer Splash Damage.

Autobots Return in New Trailer for Transformers: Reactivate

Watch this:

I’ll admit, I thought I was originally looking at a trailer for an Edge of Tomorrow game, but by the end we see that were actually looking through the first-person perspective of a Transformer (my guess is Bumblebee).

According to Video Games Chronicle, Reactivate will allow players to take control of “some of their favourite characters; unique, weighty, and powerful, seamlessly converting between vehicle and bot form as they battle The Legion; the greatest threat the Autobots have ever faced”.

We don’t have much details yet on this Legion villain, but I have a feeling that this larger threat will force the Autobots to actually team up with the Decepticons this time, in order to battle a greater evil. I mean, Megatron is considered a villain, but even he stood for something.

Splash Damage CEO Richard Jolly had this to say about the upcoming game:

“Growing up with G1 Transformers in the ’80s means it’ll always hold a special place in my heart, it’s both an honour and a privilege to work with such a beloved franchise… We know fans have been waiting a long time for a new Transformers game on consoles and PC, and we’re going to give them the experience they deserve.”

No specific release date has been announced for Transformers: Reactivate, but we should expect a closed beta to launch sometime in 2023.
