Baldur’s Gate 3 has an interesting combat system. It is closely similar to that of Wasteland franchise, i.e. turn based combat. It’s more of a slow-burning RPG, and that’s what makes it compelling to many players.
You can enter turn system even if you aren’t in combat, but that isn’t effective. You are better off exploring in free mode. But sometimes you might get stuck in the turn system.
Today, we will cover how you can exit turn mode.
How to Exit Turn Mode
Let’s get one thing straight right out of the gate, when you enter combat, it is impossible to exit turns. Like I said above, this is the combat’s system in Baldur’s Gate 3.
While in Free mode though, you can exit turn-based mode whenever you like. However, if you enter it you sometimes might get stuck.
With that being said, this is how to exit turn mode:
Press Shift + Space to return to real-time. These are the default keybinds for exiting this system. However, if you can’t exit this thing, check whether there are enemies near you.
It might be a bug, or it might be actual combat if you have enemies close to you. So, check around you, and if you don’t have enemies then you might have to restart the game.
Sadly, if you don’t have the game saved, you might lose your progress. Unfortunately, there is no alternative to exit the turn-based system.
If you don’t know how to enter this, you need to press the Spacebar button on your keyboard. You can do this any time.
You might wonder, but why would you use this? Well, this mode can be quite useful when exploring rooms and objects riddled with traps.
Since it takes you out of real-time, you have more time to react to the traps and move away. Good luck, rogue!
