The Best Greenhouse Layout for Coral Island

Coral Island is a farm simulator from Stairway Games, and though the game has been available for early access for a couple of years, it officially launched for everyone else to check out this year.

In the world of Coral Island, you get your own house and farm to grow as you please, and as the game progresses, you get to expand the town into a city, forming relationships with all kinds of characters and exploring the nooks and crannies of the island.

At the very center of the game is a farming system, which gets pretty intricate. There are different ways to water plants and scare off pests, and the game also has a mechanic that will only allow certain crops to grow during specific seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall).

However, thanks to the Greenhouse, the game introduces a system where you can grow crops any day of the year.

What is the Greenhouse in Coral Island?

The Greenhouse in Coral Island is a special building that will allow you to plant any kind of seed that will grow regardless of the season. The building has 14×14 farm tiles and a natural fountain from which players can draw water. Despite the fountain, you can install sprinklers in the greenhouse to automatically water your crops.

How to Unlock the Greenhouse

The Greenhouse is connected to the Lake Temple area, which can be found Northeast of the lake. At the Lake Temple, there are four altars that players will have to give offerings to, depending on the type of the altar.

To unlock the Greenhouse, simply complete the offerings for the first altar; there will be six offerings each. The next day, you’ll see that the Greenhouse will be automatically built near your farm.

Best Layout for Your Coral Island Greenhouse

There are various tips on laying your Greenhouse, but it will all depend on your goal in the game; some players are in it for the most profitable crops, while others are there simply to specialize in a few artisanal skills.

So far, sprinkler positioning has always been optimized for multiple farm layouts, with nine sprinklers used for a 3×3 farm. With the limited space of the greenhouse, though, you’ll still be able to install nine sprinklers, but they won’t be able to cover as much crop as when you’re planting outside. Then again, you can always opt not to install sprinklers and just water the plants manually.

When plotting your Greenhouse, it has been suggested not to have entirely large portions of just one crop. Ideally, avoid a 4×4 area of the same thing. It is best to alternate the position of the crop like a chessboard. This method ensures you have a usable space when the game suddenly presents those giant versions of a specific crop.

Crop Worth

As for crops, players always suggest that you plant some high-value crops that are only available during specific seasons. Strawberries have popped up continually in guides. These grow every four days and are very valuable when making jam. Other fruits that can be turned into jam include Melon and Pineapple.

Take note, some products are valuable as they are, but they can grow in value when fed through an artisanal machine, making them unique kinds of products that people from the town highly value.

Another frequently mentioned product is Coffee Beans. When run through a keg, turns into coffee, which many Coral Islanders love. Some suggest making room in the Greenhouse for items like Pumpkin, Hot Peppers, and Cauliflower.

Don’t forget to fertilize your Greenhouse. Fertiliser improves your produce permanently and is considered a great investment over time.
