Christopher Odd has teamed up with Marvel and 2K to go on character deep dives for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and this week we get a look at one of the most powerful heroes in the game—Captain Marvel.
In the showcase, we see Carol Danvers’ playstyle and her most powerful mode, which has been dubbed ‘Binary Mode.’ Check her out:
As you can see, the game is leaning in on Captain Marvel’s potential for damage, so, naturally, she can deal with a lot of it during a round. Interestingly, her damage output is doubled when she is in Binary Mode, so it is best if players try to activate that as early as they can and sustain it for as long as they can.
Captain Marvel also presents players with a new mechanic called ‘Counter,’ which allows her to deal damage to every other character that damages her throughout the round—investing iin a relationship with Captain Marvel as your nature also allows players to get a counter ability of their own.
The roster is slowly filling up, and we should expect to have looked at all the characters by the time the game launches later this year. While it certainly is not the AAA game we expected A-Day to be, I am sure this genre change will be something some fans have been looking for.
Midnight Suns from Firaxis Games launches on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4|5, PC, and Nintendo Switch on Oct. 7.
