Fireshine Games and Sold-Out Software have this cute new 2D platformer called Imp of the Sun, and the game is now available on all major platforms. Just in, Nintendo has released a new gameplay trailer that shows Imp restoring light to the world.
Imp of the Sun is a non-linear 2D Action-platformer that combines fast-paced combat and exploration set across a stunning Peruvian-inspired world, from the bright peaks of the Andean mountains to the dense Amazonian jungles and much more.
You play as Nin, an Imp created from the final spark of the Sun, who is sent on an adventure to defeat the Four Keepers and restore the Sun’s power, ending the Eternal Eclipse before the world is plunged into darkness.
The game is essentially metroidvania and has you taking the main character Imp through complex dungeons, battling gigantic bosses. As you progress through the game, Imp gets more and more abilities, as you get to explore more of this Peruvian-inspired terrain and characters. Imp also kind of feels like he’s Mega Man-inspired, what with the cute exterior, and several power-ups.
If the game doesn’t look complicated enough, Imp also comes with an Eclipse Mode, which is said to be the more authentic experience. With this mode, the kingdom is covered in total darkness, and areas will only be revealed once Imp explores them.
Imp of the Sun is now playable for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam.
