We had already gotten a music video of Jack Black performing Peaches from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but Illumination has decided to release the actual animated sequence from the film.
Check out Peaches as performed by Bowser:
While Bowser is portrayed like the usual bad guy in the previews, it was actually pretty neat that the movie would have Jack Black perform a musical number. I mean, Black can do funny voices and characters, but even Kung Fu Panda didn’t get him to sing in the actual movie.
As far as love ballads performed by Jack Black though, I still think his song to Sister Encarnacion from Nacho Libre is still an all-time great:
We don’t know if Black’s Bowser is going to be coming back for a sequel, but fingers crossed he actually joins forces with Mario this time.
Here’s the synopsis:
While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt; Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie franchises) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world. But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi.
With the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key; The Lion King) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy;The Queen’s Gambit), Mario taps into his own power.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now screening in theaters.
