Cities: Skylines was a city-building came out back in 2015, and it’s been eight years since the release, but Paradox Interactive has finally decided to reveal an upcoming sequel.
Here’s the official announce for Cities: Skylines II:
If you can dream it, you can build it. The highly acclaimed hit Cities: Skylines is now revolutionizing the city-builder genre again. The sequel to one of the best-selling management games of its decade is coming in 2023. Get ready for a new epic scale in the most realistic city builder – ever.
Here’s the description of the game from the press release (via Kotaku):
A modern take on the city-building genre, Cities: Skylines II lets players create and maintain cities that come to life like never before, complete with fully-realized transport and economy systems, a wealth of construction and customization options, and advanced modding capabilities. Revealed during the Paradox Announcement Show 2023, Cities: Skylines II evolves the city-building genre further, letting players build the cities of their dreams with the most open-ended city-building sandbox on the planet.
Admittedly, the announce doesn’t really give us a look at any of the gameplay, but I guess we already have hints at what to expect with the city, like the potential things you can build, and the different weather conditions that could happen while you’re building your city (like rain or snow).
With the first game nearly a decade old, there’s definitely going to be a huge jump in the gameplay expected, especially with all the modding capabilities we have today.
No specific release date has been announced for Cities: Skylines II yet, but we should expect it to release for PC as well as modern gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
