Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, known as modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every species of Pokémon from the Hisui region to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
The Galaxy Team will have the player complete missions in the game. Additionally, various people will also ask for help from the player via requests. One of these requests is Request 40, titled ‘The Charm Lost in the Swamp.’ This guide will teach you how to complete ‘The Charm Lost in the Swamp’ request.
The Charm Lost in the Swamp
To unlock this request, the player must first receive the ‘A New Mission’ mission which is the ninth mission of the game. After quelling the Lady of the Ridge Liligant’s frenzy, the player must go back to Commander Kamado and report the player’s success.
After doing the requirements mentioned, you can now start this request! To do that, head on to the Bogbound Camp in the Crimson MIrelands, and near the entrance of the camp, you will find a member of the Security Corp named Yojiro. Talk to Yojiro, and he will tell the player that he was on his way to the Bogbound Camp from the Mirelands Camp when an alpha Hippowdon suddenly came chasing after him. He will then say that he got away, but he dropped a charm that he was carrying, and he wants it back, so he will ask the player, if you find a charm in the swamp, to bring the charm back to him. And, just like that, the request has started!
The charm is located in the donut-shaped part of the swamp west of the Bogbound Camp in Sludge Mound. Upon arriving in the area, the player will see a glowing dot on the ground. Go near the glowing point, and a cutscene will play where, as the player is approaching the glow, a Hippowdon will appear.
The player must now defeat the Hippowdon first before obtaining the charm. It is worth noting that Hippowdon is a Level 34 Ground-type Pokemon which means Water, Grass, and Ice-type attacks are super effective against them. Ground-type Pokemon, like the Hippowdon, are also resistant to Poison and Rock-type attacks, which would result in not very effective attacks. They are also immune to Electric-type attacks, which means they will not be affected. It is also worth mentioning that the player can also throw a Poke Ball and catch the Hippowdon if you want.
After defeating (or catching) the Hippowdon, Yojiro will suddenly appear and be amazed by the player’s bravery in battling a big, angry Hippowdon. Then, he will see the glow in the swamp, go near it, and realize that it is his charm. He will then tell the player that it means a lot to him that the player fought that Hippowdon for him and that he will never lose the charm again after all the trouble that the player went to retrieve it and give it back to him. Finally, Yojiro will reward the player with five Iron Chunks and one Grit Gravel for your efforts.
Now that you have completed ‘The Charm Lost in the Swamp’ request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
