Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region Pokemon to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Complete the “Getting to Know Ghosts” Request (Request 64) in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Additionally, various people will also ask for help from the player in requests. One of these requests is Request 64, titled ‘Getting to Know Ghosts.’ In this guide, you will learn how to complete the ‘Getting to Know Ghosts’ request.

Getting to Know Ghosts

To unlock this request, the player must first accept the ‘Scaling Perilous Heights’ mission which is the eleventh mission in the game where the player must quell a frenzied Noble Hisuian Electrode. Additionally, the player must first encounter and catch a Gastly and add it to the player’s Pokedex.

After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! Simply head to Jubilife Village and go near Canala Bridge on the right side of Beni and the Wallflower, the village canteen in Jubilife Village. There you will find a man with a beard and in green clothing named Ward. Talk to Ward, and he will tell the player that you might be just the person he needs to help out with a little research.

He will then say that he and his son Conlan are planning to head to Prelude Beach at night to try and find the ghosts that are rumored to haunt the place, but he and his son are terrified of them. He will then explain that his son is set on doing it even though they are afraid of ghosts.

So, Ward thinks that if he studies ghosts, he can find a way to help his son conquer his fears. Ward will then tell the player that he would be grateful if the player could share any research data on spooky Pokemon like Gastly. Then, just like that, the ‘Getting to Know Ghosts’ request has started!

To complete this request, the player must show Ward a completed Pokedex entry for Gastly. This can be done by accomplishing Research Tasks. But, first, you have to find some Gastly!

Gastly can be found in the Crimson Mirelands (in Shrouded Ruins, around Golden Lowlands, around Gapejaw Bog, around Scarlet Bog, and Ursa’s Ring), in the Coronet Highlands (around Bolderoll Ravine, Sacred Plaza, and Celestica Ruins), and the Alabaster Icelands (around Bonechill Wastes and east of Avalugg’s Legacy). Gastly can only be found in these locations at night but every weather condition.

Now that you know where to find some Gastly, the next thing to do is get Gastly’s Pokedex entry to Research Level 10 by accomplishing Research Tasks. You can immediately complete Gastly’s Pokedex entry by catching six of them at night and then defeating one.

This can immediately complete Gastly’s Pokedex entry fast because catching a Gastly on the first, third, and sixth time raises the Research Level by two for those times, and catching a Gastly at night on the first, second, and fifth time raises the Research Level by one for those times (so the player can tick both at the same time by catching six Gastly at night and raise the Research Level to Research Level 9), and defeating one Gastly raises the Research Level by one which will result to Research Level 10.

If you plan to distract Gastly with food, it is worth noting that Gastly’s preferred foods are Plump Beans and Springy Mushrooms.

As you would have to battle a Gastly, it is important to mention that Gastly is a Ghost and Poison-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Dark-type, Ghost-type, Ground-type, and Psychic-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Fairy-type, Grass-type, and, especially, Bug-type and Poison-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Fighting-type and Normal-type moves (no effect).

After accomplishing enough Research Tasks, head back to the Base Camp and talk to Professor Laventon to update your Pokedex. Then, once you have completed Gastly’s Pokedex entry by getting it to Research Level 10, head back to Ward, still near Canala Bridge and the Wallflower in Jubilife Village, and talk to him.

Ward will then take a look at Gastly’s Pokedex entry and will learn that Gastly likes to eat mushrooms which are tamer than what he was expecting. After a bit of conversation, his son, Conlan, will appear and check up on him. Conlan will then remind him it is Ward’s day off from work tomorrow and that he promised to take him to Prelude Beach and look for ghosts, to which Ward will reply that he has not forgotten and that he will never let work get in the way of their ghost hunt.

After Conlan leaves, Ward will tell the player that Conlan was only putting on a brave face because the player was there. Ward will then thank the player and tell you he owes you one. Finally, Ward will reward the player with one Linking Cord for your efforts!

Now that you have completed the ‘Getting to Know Ghosts’ request, you can try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
