Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every species of Pokémon from the Hisui region to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Complete the “Help Wanted: Rock Smashing in the Fields” Request (Request 60) in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Additionally, various people will also ask for help from the player requests. One of these requests is Request 60, titled ‘Help Wanted: Rock Smashing in the Fields.’ This guide will teach you how to complete the ‘Help Wanted: Rock Smashing in the Fields’ request.

Help Wanted: Rock Smashing in the Fields

To unlock this request, the player must first accept the ‘Scaling Perilous Heights’ mission, the eleventh mission in the game where the player must quell a frenzied Noble Hisuian Electrode. The player must also complete the ‘Help Wanted: Watering the Fields’ request (Request 42) from Miller in Jubilife Village.

Then, the ‘Help Wanted: Rock Smashing in the Fields’ request has started! After doing the requirements mentioned, you can now start this request! To do that, head to the farm on the west side of Jubilife Village, and there you will see a man holding a farming hoe dressed in brown named Miller. Talk to him, and he will tell the player that he wants to make the fields even bigger, but some boulders are sitting in the way. He will then ask the player if you can lend them a Pokemon to perform Rock Smash.

To complete this request, all the player has to do is lend Miller a Pokemon that can perform Rock Smash. The easiest Pokemon to catch that already knows Rock Smash is Machop. Now it is time to find some Machop!

Machop can be found in the Obsidian Fieldlands (at the top of the Obsidian Falls and around Oreburrow Tunnel), the Cobalt Coastlands (south of Windbreak Stand or west of Castaway Shore), the Coronet Highlands (south of Bolderoll Ravine and west of Celestica Ruins), and the Alabaster Icelands (around Snowfall Hot Spring). Machop can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition.

Suppose you decide to battle against a Machop before catching it. In that case, it is worth mentioning that Machop is a Fighting-type Pokemon which means it is weak against Fairy-type, Flying-type, and Psychic-type moves (super effective) and resistant to Bug-type, Dark-type, and Rock-type moves (not very effective).

Additionally, if you decide to throw food at it to distract it, it is also worth mentioning that Machop’s preferred foods are Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.

Alternatively, suppose the player already has a Geodude or a Hippopotas (likely because they can be obtained fairly early in the game). In that case, you can take them to the Training Grounds in the northwest of Jubilife Village and have one of them learn Rock Smash for 500 Pokemon Dollars.

After catching a Pokemon that can perform Rock Smash and lend out, head back to Miller, still on the farm on the west side of Jubilife Village, and talk to him. On the prompt, choose the Pokemon you want to lend him. After that, he will tell the player that the Pokemon you lent will be a big help in expanding the fields, and, once they get started, Miller will be amazed at the Pokemon and will say that it pulverized the pesky boulders like they were yesterday’s gravel. Finally, the job will be finished, and the player can now use more fields for farming!

If you decide in the future that you want to use the Pokemon you lent Miller, you can swap that Pokemon out with another Pokemon that can perform Rock Smash. To do that, interact with the Pokemon, and on the prompt, select the Pokemon you want to swap it out with. Even after the request, Miller will still keep your Pokemon to help them out in the fieldwork.

Now that you have completed the ‘Help Wanted: Rock Smashing in the Fields’ request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
