Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (or just Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Additionally, various people will also ask for help from the player in the form of requests. One of these requests is Request 122, titled “Kricketot’s Path of Solitude.” This guide will teach you how to complete the “Kricketot’s Path of Solitude” request.
Kricketot’s Path of Solitude
To unlock this request, the player must first complete the “Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands’ request (request 101) and the ‘Daybreak’ request (request 102), where the player must investigate the massive mass outbreaks in the Alabaster Icelands and complete the Daybreak DLC, and complete request 108 to 117, the first batch of Path of Solitude Requests, from Gared in the Training Grounds.
After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! To do that, complete the last one of the first batch of the Path of Solitude requests, then simply head on to the Training Grounds in the northwest of the Jubilife Village and on the left side of the building (or behind Ingo) the player will find Gared who is a member of the Security Corps. Talk to Gared and he will say that it was a thrill to see the player’s pokemon best the Path of Solitude like that. After that, he will reward the player for completing the previous request. Then, after a slight pause, he will nod and say that with the player’s skills, he knew that the player could do it then tell the player to try these new and incredibly tough challenges. Then, after that, a new bunch of Path of Solitude requests will start and one of them is the “Kricketot’s Path of Solitude” Request!
In order to complete this request, the player must defeat Ingo and his Gyarados in the Path of Solitude with only a Kricketot in the player’s party.
Check the request description and it will give a tip to face the challenge after raising the player’s Kricketot to its utmost limit. What this means is that the player’s Kricketot should be trained up to Level 90 and above as the player would have to battle Ingo’s Level 60 Gyarados. The player’s Kricketot should have a very large level difference from Ingo’s Gyarados because Kricketot would be at a type disadvantage against Gyarados so being at a high level would help ensure that Kricketot will survive the opposing Pokemon’s attacks.
Unfortunately, the player cannot find a Kricketot that is already high level in the wild. The highest level Kricketot that a player can find is only up to Level 9 in the Obsidian Fieldlands (in Deertrack Path, in Nature’s Pantry, and in the north and south of Windswept Run) and in the Crimson Mirelands (around Cloudpool Ridge and the Golden Lowlands). Kricketot can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. As you can see, you would have to train Kricketot from the ground up. If you plan on distracting it with food before battling it, it is worth mentioning that Wurmple’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.
If you plan on battling it before catching it, it is worth noting that Kricketot is a Bug type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Fire type, Flying type, and Rock type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Fighting type, Grass type, and Ground type moves (not very effective).
It is recommended that the player’s Kricketot has a Nature that boosts Sp. Attack, like Modest. Then, the player can boost Kricketot’s Effort Levels, with a focus on boosting Kricketot’s Defense, HP, Sp. Attack, Sp. Defense, and Speed, using Grit items.
As for Kricketot’s moves, it is recommended to let the player’s Kricketot use Absorb, which is a weak Grass type special attack that deals damage on the opposing Pokemon while the user absorbs the damage dealt to restore HP, and Tackle, which is a weak Normal type physical attack.
After training your Kricketot, head to Ingo on the left side of Captain Zisu in the Training Grounds and talk to him. Select the ‘Path of Solitude’ on the prompt, select ‘Accept the challenge’ on the next prompt, then Ingo will let you choose one Pokemon so put your Kricketot in the party and remove all the other Pokemon so that the player will only use Kricketot. After that, select ‘Begin’ on the next prompt and the player can now begin the challenge!
It is worth noting that Ingo’s Gyarados is a Level 60 Water and Flying type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Rock type and especially Electric type moves (super effective), a resistance to Bug type, Fighting type, Fire type, Steel type, and Water type moves (not very effective), and an immunity to Ground type moves (no effect). Ingo’s Gyarados may use Twister, which is a Dragon type special attack with decent power.
In battle, all the player has to do is to keep attacking Gyarados with Kricketot’s Absorb. The player can vary between Agile Style, to get more hits depending on Kricketot’s speed, or Strong Style to restore more HP. Ingo’s Gyarados will probably attack first because it will naturally outspeed Kricketot, so the player’s Kricketot must survive this attack. This battle may be long and this depends on if either Pokemon deals Critical Hit or not. If the player’s Kricketot is strong enough, Kricketot will be able to survive the opposing Pokemon’s attacks and be able to defeat Ingo’s Gyarados. If not, then you might need to level your Kricketot up some more.
After defeating Ingo’s Gyarados, Ingo will say that the player’s Kricketot has reached the final station on its Path to Solitude and that he has added a mark on Kricketot’s page in the Pokedex that signifies its victory. Then, Ingo will reward the player with three Exp. Candy L as a prize for having completed the Path of Solitude.
After that, head back to Gared, still near Ingo, and talk to him. Gared will say that it was a thrill to see the player’s Pokemon best the Path of Solitude like that. Then, finally, the player will be rewarded with one Seed of Mastery and one Exp. Candy XL for your efforts and the “Kricketot’s Path of Solitude” Request is now completed! Additionally, if the player has completed all of the Path of Solitude Request, Gared will also reward the player with a whopping 10 Exp. Candy XL for your efforts!
Now that you have completed the ‘Kricketot’s Path of Solitude’ Request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you which is to catch ’em all!
