How to Complete the ‘A New Anomaly’ Request (Request 95) in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Writer and Storywriter

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region Pokemon to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Complete the 'A New Anomaly' Request (Request 95) in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Various people will also ask for help from the player in the form of requests. One of these requests is Request 95, titled ‘A New Anomaly.’ This guide will teach you how to complete the ‘A New Anomaly’ request.

A New Anomaly

To unlock this request, the player must first complete the main story of the game with the last mission called ‘The Counterpart,‘ which is the 18th mission in the game where the player must defeat and catch Dialga/Palkia and close the Space-Time Rift at the top of Mount Coronet. Additionally, the player must update the game to at least version 1.1.0.

After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! To do that, head on to the Heights Camp near the middle of the Obsidian Fieldlands, and in the distance, just across Professor Laventon, the player will find Mai, a member of the Diamond Clan, with her Munchlax. Talk to Mai, and she will tell the player that she has no idea why but her Munchlax keeps trying to run off in different directions.

Then, like clockwork, her Munchlax will try to run off, which Mai will call out. Mai will say that she is not sure what the Munchlax is focused on, but the Munchlax would disappear without warning, and keeping track of the Munchlax has been quite the task. Mai’s Munchlax will approach the player, and the player’s Arc Phone suddenly beeps. Mai will then ask what just happened as it seemed like it responded to Munchlax.

The player’s Arc phone will then react to Munchlax and display its destination. Mai will then say that it is pointing to Ramanas Island and that she wonders if they are about to see another strange phenomenon sweep across the Hisui region, or maybe she is just reading too much into things. She will then ask the player to visit Ramanas Island to check out this new mystery. Then, the ‘A New Anomaly’ request started just like that!

After talking to Mai, head to Ramanas Island located southeast of the Heights Camp, and head to the western part of the island. A cutscene will play where the player will point out that this seems to be the place that Mai’s Munchlax was interested in. Suddenly, the player will see a group of Zorua and think that the player should report back to Mai about the Zorua.

It is worth noting that the player can catch the Zorua, but it is not required. If you plan to catch them, it is worth mentioning that the Hisuian Zorua is a Normal and Dark-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Dark-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Bug-type, and Poison-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Fighting-type and Normal-type moves (no effect). The Hisuian Zorua’s preferred foods are Hearty Grains and Plump Beans.

Next, head back to Mai, still in the distance just across from Professor Laventon in the Heights Camp, and talk to her to report the player’s findings. Mai will then ask the player what they found then. After selecting an answer on the prompt, she will ask the player what Pokemon they saw. After selecting another answer on the prompt, Mai will say that the player encountered a Zorua, a rare Pokemon and that she has seen them in the Alabaster Icelands but not in this area.

Mai will then ask her Munchlax if it was curious about Munchlax, but then suddenly, there will be another Munchlax with Mai’s Munchlax. Mai will then say that she would never fail to recognize her own Munchlax so that she will guess the Munchlax on the left, but then the Munchlax that she thought was a Munchlax would turn into a Zorua and run away. Mai will then point out that it is odd for the Zorua to appear in the Obsidian Fieldlands, and she will say that she hopes this is not an omen of something unpleasant yet to come. So, she will ask the player to report the situation to Captain Cyllene of the Galaxy Team.

After that, talk to Professor Laventon to head back to Jubilife Village. Then, upon arriving in the village, head to the Galaxy Hall, which is in the northern part of the village. Upon entering the Galaxy Hall, head to Captain Cyllene’s office just ahead of the entrance and talk to her. The player will then report the situation to Captain Cyllene, and she will ask if the Zorua appearing in areas that are not their natural habitat could have been caused by the space-time rift, but she thinks they do not know enough about it yet to say for sure. Captain Cyllene will then thank the player for the report and reward the player with 30 Ultra Balls, 60 Apricots, and 60 Tumblestones for your efforts. After that, the ‘A New Anomaly’ Request is now complete!

After that, Mai and her Munchlax will appear and say that the situation is getting worse as her Munchlax reacted to a few more different locations, and there was a mass outbreak at each of them just after the player left. Captain Cyllene will then confirm if the outbreaks are all at once in multiple locations and say that this must be somehow different from the mass outbreaks they know, so she will say that they should call this new phenomenon a massive mass outbreak. So, she will give new orders to investigate the massive mass outbreak. Mai will then say that she is counting on the player to keep investigating and that she will be waiting for the player by the Front Gate.

Now that you have completed the ‘A New Anomaly’ Request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
