How to Complete the “Wurmple’s Path of Solitude” Request (Request 121) in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Various people will also ask for help from the player through requests. One of these requests is Request 121, titled “Wurmple’s Path of Solitude.” This guide will teach you how to complete the “Wurmple’s Path of Solitude” request.

Wurmple’s Path of Solitude

To unlock this request, the player must first complete the “Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands” request (request 101) and the “Daybreak” request (request 102). During these, the player must investigate the massive mass outbreaks in the Alabaster Icelands, complete the Daybreak DLC, and complete request 108 to 117, the first batch of Path of Solitude Requests, from Gared in the Training Grounds.

After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! To do that, complete the last one of the first batch of the Path of Solitude requests, then head on to the Training Grounds in the northwest of the Jubilife Village, and on the left side of the building (or behind Ingo), the player will find Gared who is a member of the Security Corps.

Talk to Gared, and he will say it was a thrill to see the player’s Pokemon best the Path of Solitude like that. After that, he will reward the player for completing the previous request.

Then, after a slight pause, he will nod and say that with the player’s skills, he knew that the player could do it, then tell the player to try these new and incredibly tough challenges. Then, a new bunch of Path of Solitude requests will start, including the “Wurmple’s Path of Solitude” Request!

Completing the Request in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

To complete this request, the player must defeat Ingo and his Staraptor in the Path of Solitude with only a Wurmple in the player’s party.

Check the request description, which will give a tip to face the challenge after raising the player’s Wurmple to its limit. This means the player’s Wurmple should be trained up to Level 90 and above, as the player would have to battle Ingo’s Level 50 Staraptor.

The player’s Wurmple should have a huge level difference from Ingo’s Staraptor because firstly, Wurmple is incredibly weak and, second, Staraptor’s moves are super effective against the player’s Wurmple, so being at a high level would help ensure that Wurmple will survive the opposing Pokemon’s attacks.

Unfortunately, the player cannot find a Wurmple that is already high-level in the wild. The highest level of Wurmple a player can find is around Level 4 to 6 in the Floaro Gardens, Aspiration Hill, Horseshoe Plains, and The Heartwood in the Obsidian Fieldlands.

Training Wurmple in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

As you can see, you would have to train Wurmple from the ground up. If you plan on distracting it with food before battling it, it is worth mentioning that Wurmple’s preferred foods are Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.

Suppose you plan on battling it before catching it. In that case, it is worth noting that Wurmple is a Bug-type Pokemon, which means it is weak (super effective) to Fire-type, Flying-type, and Rock-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to Fighting-type, Grass-type, and Ground-type moves.

It is recommended that the player’s Wurmple has a Nature that boosts Speed, like Jolly, or boosts Attack, like Adamant. Then, the player can boost Wurmple’s Effort Levels, focusing on boosting Wurmple’s Attack, Defense, HP, Sp. Defense and Speed, using Grit items.

As for Wurmple’s moves, it is recommended to let the player’s Wurmple use Poison Sting. This weak Poison-type physical attack may Poison the opposing Pokemon and Tackle, which is a weak Normal-type physical attack.

After training your Wurmple, head to Ingo on the left side of Captain Zisu in the Training Grounds and talk to him. Select the ‘Path of Solitude’ on the prompt, and select ‘Accept the challenge’ on the next prompt.

Ingo will let you choose one Pokemon, so put your Wurmple in the party and remove all the other Pokemon so the player will only use Wurmple. After that, select ‘Begin’ on the next prompt, and the player can begin the challenge!

Defeating Ingo’s Staraptor in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

A screenshot showing Ingo in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

It is worth noting that Ingo’s Staraptor is a Level 50 Normal and Flying-type Pokemon, which means it is weak (super effective) to Electric-type, Ice-type, and Rock-type moves, resistant (somewhat effective) to Bug-type and Grass-type moves, and immunity (no effect) to Ghost-type and Ground-type moves. Ingo’s Staraptor may use Gust, a weak Flying-type special attack.

In battle, Ingo’s Staraptor will probably attack first because it will naturally outspeed Wurmple, so the player’s Wurmple must survive this attack. Then, on the player’s turn, let Wurmple use Poison Sting in Strong Style. This will result in Ingo’s Staraptor being poisoned.

After that, because of the player’s Strong Style move, Ingo’s Staraptor may attack twice, but it will also take Poison damage twice. After surviving those two attacks, the player’s Wurmple can use Poison Sting in Strong Style again to finish Ingo’s Staraptor. If the player’s Wurmple is strong enough, this will most likely be enough to defeat Ingo’s Staraptor. If not, you might need to level your Wurmple up.

Conclusion

After defeating Ingo’s Staraptor, Ingo will say that the player’s Wurmple has reached the final station on its Path to Solitude and that he has added a mark on Wurmple’s page in the Pokedex that signifies its victory. Then, Ingo will reward the player with three Exp. Candy L as a prize for having completed the Path of Solitude.

Afterward, head back to Gared, still near Ingo, and talk to him. Gared will say that seeing the player’s Pokemon best on the Path of Solitude was a thrill. Then, finally, the player will be rewarded with one Seed of Mastery and one Exp. Candy XL for your efforts, and the “Wurmple’s Path of Solitude” Request is now completed!

Now that you have completed the “Wurmple’s Path of Solitude” Request, you can try to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task, which is to catch ’em all!
