Bungie has unveiled the newest chapter of Destiny 2’s ‘Light & Darkness Saga’ The Witch Queen at a special showcase event today.
The newest expansion promises to pit players against their most dangerous enemy yet as they attempt to uncover the truth behind Savathûn, the Witch Queen. The action is set to take place on Savathûn’s Throne World, a new location with new threats like the Lucen Brood, Savathûn’s underlings which are powered by the same light that guardians draw from.

Players will be able to craft weapons for the first time ever in Destiny’s history, with a vast variety of mods and shaders at their disposal. Guardians will also have access to a new first-person melee weapon, The Glaive, capable of powerful melee and mid-range attacks while also acting as a shield for the user. The Witch Queen will also introduce new challenges for players to take on including a new six-player matchmade activity and a new raid set in the heart of a sunken pyramid ship.
Bungie has also teased that the Light & Darkness Saga is approaching its finale with The Witch Queen leading into 2023’s Lightfall expansion which will set the stage for the final chapter which has been revealed to be called The Final Shape.
During the showcase Bungie took time to reflect on their upcoming 30th anniversary and revealed details of their celebration plans. Destiny 2 will be receiving celebratory content as well as free content which will be available for all players inspired by previous games from the developers triumphant time in the gaming world. Bungie also revealed the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack for Destiny 2 which includes a new dungeon inspired by Cosmodrome loot caves, where players can obtain the new Thorn armour set and hunt for relics, weapons and armour inspired by previous Bungie games, will also be available.
The conference concluded with details for the Season of the Lost event which launches today and sets the stage for The Witch Queen expansion. New quests and activities are available and players will be able to try out the much-requested crossplay feature which launches alongside Season of the Lost.

Players who pre-order Destiny 2: The Witch Queen will get instant access to a new Exotic Ghost Shell, Legendary Emblems and bonus items. The Digital Deluxe version will also give players who pre-ordered the game instant access to the new Exotic Enigma emote.
Both The Witch Queen expansion and the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack for Destiny 2 are available for pre-order starting today. Season of the Lost also launches today in Destiny 2.
