Wizard is a challenging class for solo fights. While Wizards offer numerous powerful casts to choose from, this class may struggle to get up after a good old punch to the chin. This weakness, however, can be easily resolved with the right build that defends against an enemy punch in the first place.

If you’re wondering what the best builds for a Wizard in Diablo 3 are, we’re here to help.

In this guide, we’ll share the five most powerful Wizard builds and explain how their main perks can be utilized to defeat enemies. Read on to discover how you can make enemies fear your wizardry.

Delsere’s Magnum Opus/Frozen Orb Build

Delsere’s Magnum Opus build lets the player control time and enemies by freezing them. You can gather enemies together to slow them down and defeat them without coming too close. This strategy is simple enough for beginners but is also beloved by many experienced players.

The Arcane Orb cast decreases the cooldown time of the slowdown perk, and the Trapped Gem perk increases damage taken by 8,500%. In other words, Delsere’s Magnum Opus build is the ultimate destroyer.

Firebird’s Finery/Meteor Build

The Firebird’s Finery build has immense damage potential but a relatively long cooldown. The player must be attentive to resources and have a clear strategy to utilize this build effectively. Like the Delsere’s Magnum Opus build, the Firebird’s Finery is excellent for trapping enemies together to eliminate everyone at once. However, this build doesn’t cause a slowdown.

The Firebird’s Finery build can revive you after death and grants 1,000% damage in fire attacks. Each initiated enemy grants you an additional 200% damage.

Typhon’s Veil/Frost Hydra Build

With the Typhon’s Veil build, you don’t have to fight yourself but can summon a Hydra to do it for you. Every Hydra’s head deals 1,300% damage, so the attack is powerful even if there’s only one left. This creature is fast and can gather enemies in one location by using Frost Nova cast while dealing constant damage.

Legacy of Dreams/Mammoth Hydra

Legacy of Dreams is yet another build utilizing Hydra’s powers. This build, however, grants increased damage depending on how many Legendary items you’ve equipped. It also casts Frozen Nova to slow down the enemies and deals consistent damage. Mammoth Hydra can breathe fire, too, covering the floor in front of them in lava.

Chantodo’s Will/Vyr’s Amazing Arcana

The Vyr’s Amazing Arcana build uses Archon and grants it perks of all runes in the game. The Wave of Destruction casts additional increases to Archon’s damage with 4,000% with every hit. The weapon’s damage also enhances by 6% with every enemy annihilated.
