Despite the prevalent online campaign to boycott the launch, Hogwarts Legacy is still getting hyped before release. The game is set to launch on Feb. 10 for all users, but early access has begun for fans who had pre-ordered the deluxe edition of the game.
Here’s the announcement:
So far, critic reviews for the game have been sparkling, with everyone excited about being able to take on the shoes of a Hogwarts student and roam around the grounds learning all kinds of magic.
Though the call for the boycott is strong online, the developers have made it clear that Potter creator J.K. Rowling had nothing to do with the development of the game, and they have even worked on making some pro-trans in-game mechanics as a way to show support for the community that Rowling is allegedly against.
It’s even said that the game had added a trans NPC to the game; but some think this could have just been a smokescreen to distract from the whole issue with Rowling.
Personally, I’m all for the support of the developers, and even if Rowling is getting a royalty cheque for the game, I still appreciate all the hard work in trying to replicate a Hogwarts experience with a video game.
Become the student you have always wanted to be as you experience life at Hogwarts and embark on a journey through the wizarding world. Discover magical beasts, craft potions, and master spell casting as you uncover the mystery of Ancient Magic.
Hogwarts Legacy will launch for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 on Feb. 10. The game launches for Xbox One and PS4 on April 4, and Nintendo Switch on July 25.
