Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Evolve Pikachu to Raichu in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The game has certain Pokemon that the player cannot catch in the wild. One of these Pokemon is Pikachu, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Pikachu into Raichu!

Pikachu to Raichu

Raichu is an Electric type Mouse Pokemon with dark orange fur, a white belly, brown and yellow ears, yellow circles on its cheek, and a long, thin tail with its end shaped like a lightning bolt. Raichu uses its tail to gather electricity from the atmosphere or search for electricity on the ground. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Raichu can discharge bursts of electricity that exceeds 100,000 volts which could hinder a Copperajah.

Raichu can be found on top of a cliff in the Golden Lowlands in the Crimson Mirelands, and the Raichu can be found here at all times of the day and in every weather condition. It is also worth noting that the Raichu found in this area is an Alpha Pokemon. Other than that, Raichi can also be found in Space-Time Distortions in the Alabaster Icelands, although finding one in Space-Time Distortions is very rare.

However, if you would rather obtain a Raichu through evolution, the player can catch one by evolving Pikachu using a Thunder Stone. To do that, the player must first know where to find a Pikachu.

The player can find a Pikachu in the Obsidian Fieldlands (in Nature’s Pantry and Oreburrow Tunnel), in the Crimson Mirelands (north of the Golden Lowlands),  and in the Cobalt Coastlands (in Windbreak Stand). Other than that, Pikachu can also be found in Space-Time Distortions in the Alabaster Icelands, and Pikachu can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition.

If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Pikachu’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.

Suppose you plan on battling a Pikachu first before catching it. In that case, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Pikachu is an Electric type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric type, Flying type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Thunder Stone

Now that the player has caught a Pikachu, all that is needed to evolve a Pikachu to a Raichu is a Thunder Stone. There are several ways that the player can obtain a Thunder Stone:

The player may obtain a Thunder Stone by breaking sparkling gray Tumblestone Ores in the Cobalt Coastlands. Breaking shaking ores, however, will result in a Pokemon like Geodude or Graveler popping out and battling the player.

The player can purchase a Thunder Stone for 5,000 Pokemon Dollars from Ginter at the Gingko Guild Shop between the Galaxy Hall and the player’s headquarters. However, Ginter will call it a Lightning-Bolt Rock. Unfortunately, the items the Gingko Guild Merchants sell are not the same so purchasable items may vary. To change the items that Ginter is selling, the player must first catch 20 Pokemon.

The player can purchase a Thunder Stone from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for 1,000 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost satchels all over the Hisui region.

Other than that, the player may find some Thunder Stones on the ground inside of Space-Time Distortions, so check out the items inside them.

Finally, Raichu!

After catching a Pikachu and obtaining a Thunder Stone, the player can now evolve Pikachu into a Raichu!

To do that, this is what the player must do:

  1. Put the player’s Pikachu in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps and selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
  2. Then, make sure that the Thunder Stone is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any of the Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Thunder Stone to the player’s Satchel.
  3. Next, return to the game and press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
  4. Select the Thunder Stone, select “Use” on the prompt, then select Pikachu from the player’s party, too; well, use the Thunder Stone on Pikachu.
  5. Confirm on the prompt to evolve Pikachu. Then, just like that, Pikachu will evolve into a Raichu!

Now that the player has a Raichu, the player can try to use the Raichu to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player to catch ‘em all!
