Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set Hisui, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
In the game, there are certain Pokemon that players cannot catch or are hard to catch in the wild. One of the methods to catch these Pokemon is through evolution. One of these Pokemon is Porygon2, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Porygon into a Porygon2!
Porygon into Porygon2
Porygon2 is a Normal type Virtual Pokemon with a rounded and pink body that looks like that of a drinking bird, a flat blue bill, large round eyes, blue ovoid legs, a blue underside, and a blue tail that widens in the middle. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Porygon2’s biology remains hard to understand even though it shows new gestures and expressions.
Porygon2 actually cannot be found anywhere in the wild. The only way the player can find a Porygon2 is through Space-Time Distortions in the Crimson Mirelands. However, Porygon2 is a scarce find in Space-Time Distortions in the area. So, the surefire way to catch a Porygon2 is through evolution. To do that, the player must evolve a Porygon using an Upgrade. First, the player should know where to find a Porygon
Porygon
The player also cannot find a Porygon in the wild. However, they can also be found in Space-Time Distortions in the Crimson Mirelands and are very common. Space-Time Distortions can appear at any time of the day and in every weather condition.
If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Porygon’s preferred foods are Crunchy Salts.
Suppose you plan on battling a Porygon first before catching it, which is more likely as Porygon is found in Space-Time Distortions. In that case, it is worth noting that Porygon is a Normal-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).
Upgrade
Now that the player has caught a Porygon, all that is needed to evolve a Porygon into Porygon2 is an Upgrade. There are several ways that the player can obtain an Upgrade:
The player can purchase an Upgrade from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for only 1000 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost satchels all over the Hisui region.
Other than that, the player may find some Upgrades on the ground inside of Space-Time Distortions, so make sure to check out the items inside them.
Out of all the methods mentioned above, the easiest way to obtain an Upgrade is by purchasing one from the Trading Post for 1000 Merit Points.
Finally, Porygon2!
After catching a Porygon and obtaining an Upgrade, the player can evolve a Porygon into a Porygon2!
To do that, this is what the player must do:
- Put the player’s Porygon in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps, selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt, or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
- Then, make sure that the Upgrade is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any of the Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Upgrade to the player’s Satchel.
- After that, return to the game and press the up-directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
- Select the Upgrade, select “Use” on the prompt, then select Porygon from the player’s party to use the Upgrade on Porygon.
- Confirm the prompt to evolve Porygon. Then, just like that, Porygon will evolve into a Porygon2!
Now that the player has a Porygon2, the player can try to use the Porygon2 to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ‘em all!
