Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in Hisui, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (or just Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every species of Pokémon from the Hisui region to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Evolve Tangela into Tangrowth in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

In the game, there are certain Pokemon that have special requirements in order for them to evolve. One of these Pokemon is Tangela, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Tangela into a Tangrowth!

Tangela into Tangrowth

Tangrowth is a Grass-type Vine Pokemon that has a black body with a lot of blue vines wrapped around it, a pair of eyes that are peeking out from beneath the vines, a pair of flappy arms with three fingers with red tips, and two black feet that look stubby and has red tips. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Tangrowth looks similar to a shrub because of the long vines draped around its body. Additionally, Tangrowth will swing bundles of vines, swinging them like they were arms, and wrap them around their prey to ensnare them.

Tangrowth can actually be found in the north of Gapejaw Bog in the Crimson Mirelands. Tangrowth can be found in this location at all times of the day and in every weather condition. It is worth noting that the Tangrowth that can be found in the location previously mentioned (north of Gapejaw Bog or west of Scarlet Bog) is a Level 45 Alpha Pokemon. Aside from that, Tangrowth may also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands.

An alternative for catching a Tangrowth is through evolution. To do that, the player must evolve a Tangela after learning to move Ancient Power. First, the player should know where to find a Tangela.

Tangela

The player can also find a Tangela in the Crimson Mirelands (north and east of Gapejaw Bog and northeast of Bolderoll Slope) and the Cobalt Coastlands (in Crossing Slope and south of Windbreak Stand). Tangela can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. Aside from that, Tangela can be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands.

If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Tangela’s preferred foods are Springy Mushroom and Crunchy Salts.

Suppose you plan on battling a Tangela first before catching it. In that case, it is worth noting that Tangela is a Grass-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to the Bug-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice type, and Poison-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Ancient Power

Now that the player has caught a Tangela, one of the methods to evolve a Tangela to a Tangrowth is by letting the Tangela learn Ancient Power.

Ancient Power is a Rock-type special move where the Pokemon who is using the move will attack the opposing Pokemon with primeval power, which may also raise the user’s offensive and defensive stats.

Tangela will learn the move Ancient Power when Tangela reaches Level 34. The player can level up Tangela by battling against other Pokemon, using Rare Candies, and using Exp. Candies.

Once Tangela has learned Ancient Power, the player should then equip the move to the Pokemon’s move set. To do that, this is what the player must do:

  1. First, press the up-directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
  2. Then, select Tangela in the player’s party on the Satchel’s right side.
  3. Next, on the prompt, select ‘Change moves.
  4. After that, select ‘Ancient Power’ on the unequipped moves on the left side, then select a move on Tangela’s move set on the right side to replace Ancient Power.
  5. Next, press the X button to confirm the change, then confirm on the prompt that you are happy with the new move set.

After that, Tangela can now use Ancient Power in battle!

Finally, Tangrowth!

After catching a Tangela and letting it learn Ancient Power, the player can now evolve a Tangela into a Tangrowth! To do that, this is what the player must do:

  1. If it is not already there, put the player’s Tangela in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps and selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
  2. Then, return to the game and press the up-directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
  3. Select the player’s Tangela, which has a glowing Poke Ball beside its name, indicating that the Pokemon is ready to evolve. Select Evolve on the prompt, confirm on the next prompt to evolve Tangela, then just like that, Tangela will evolve into a Tangrowth!

Now that the player has a Tangrowth, the player can now try to use the Tangrowth to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ‘em all!
