Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the land of the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Evolve Vulpix to Ninetails in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

In the game, certain Pokemon require special items to evolve. One of these Pokemon is Vulpix, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Vulpix into Ninetails!

Vulpix to Ninetails

Vulpix to Ninetails

Ninetails is a Fire-type Pokemon with long golden-white fur, red eyes, and nine tails. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Ninetails is said to store sacred power in their nine long tails, and Ninetails will live for a millennium.

Ninetails can be found on Firespit Island in the northeasternmost part of the Cobalt Coastlands, and the Ninetails can be found here at all times of the day and in every weather condition. It is also worth noting that the Ninetails found in this area is an Alpha Pokemon. Other than that, Ninetails can also be found in Space-Time Distortions in the Cobalt Coastlands and the Alabaster Icelands.

However, if you would instead obtain a Ninetails through evolution, the player can catch one by evolving Vulpix using a Fire Stone. To do that, the player must first know where to find a Vulpix.

The player can find a Vulpix in Veilstone Cape and the east of Windbreak Stand in the Cobalt Coastlands. Vulpix can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition.

If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Vulpix’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.

Suppose you plan on battling a Vulpix first before catching it. In that case, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Vulpix is a Fire and Rock-type Pokemon, which means it is weak (super effective) to Ground-type, Rock-type, and Water-type move and resistant (not very effective) to the Bug-type, Fairy-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, and Steel-type moves.

Fire Stone

After catching a Vulpix, all you need to evolve it into a Ninetails is a Fire Stone. There are several ways that the player can obtain a Fire Stone:

The player may obtain a Fire Stone by breaking Tumblestone Ores that are shaking. Breaking these shaking ores, however, will result in a Pokemon like Geodude or Graveler popping out and battling the player.

Additionally, the player can purchase a Fire Stone for 5,000 Pokemon Dollars from Ginter at the Gingko Guild Shop. You can find it between the Galaxy Hall and the player’s headquarters. However, Ginter will call it a Flame-Patterned Rock.

Unfortunately, the items the Gingko Guild Merchants sell are not the same, so that purchasable items may vary. To change the items that Ginter is selling, the player must first catch 20 Pokemon.

The player can purchase a Fire Stone from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for 1,000 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost suitcases throughout the Hisui region.

Other than that, the player may find some Fire Stones on the ground inside Space-Time Distortions, so check out the items inside them.

Finally, Ninetails!

After catching a Vulpix and obtaining a Fire Stone, the player can now evolve Vulpix into a Ninetails!

To do that, this is what the player must do:

  1. Put the player’s Vulpix in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps and selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
    evolve 1
  2. Then, ensure that the Fire Stone is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Fire Stone to the player’s Satchel.
    evolve 2
  3. Next, return to the game and press the up-directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
  4. Select the Fire Stone and select “Use” on the prompt. Then select Vulpix from the player’s party to use the Fire Stone on Vulpix.
    evolve 4
  5. Confirm the prompt to evolve Vulpix. Then, just like that, Vulpix will evolve into a Ninetails!
    evolve 5

Now that the player has Ninetails, the player can try complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ‘em all!
