Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in Hisui, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
In the game, there are certain Pokemon that have special requirements in order for them to evolve. One of these Pokemon is Yanma, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Yanma into a Yanmega!
Yanma into Yanmega
Yanmega is a Bug and Flying type Ogre Darner Pokemon that looks like a huge dragonfly with a dark green body, red circles on its body and tail, two plates on its back and a similar one on the top of its head, another triangular plate on its tail, four wings that are oval shaped and has red tips, another pair of smaller wings on its tail, three black and thin legs on each side, large red eyes with black lines, and large fangs next to its mouth. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Yanmega is extremely violent and does not waste its energy when hunting by only aiming at the most vulnerable spots of its prey. Additionally, it is believed that anyone who manages to tame a Yanmega is incredibly brave.
Yanmega can be found in the Crimson Mirelands (in Droning Meadow) and the Coronet Highlands (in Heavenward Lookout). Yanmega can be found in these locations in every weather condition but can only be found here during the day (morning, midday, or evening).
It is worth noting that the Yanmega that can be found in Droning Meadow in the Crimson Mirelands is a Level 58 Alpha Pokemon. Aside from that, Yanmega may also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands.
An alternative for catching a Yanmega is through evolution. To do that, the player must evolve a Yanma after learning to move Ancient Power. First, the player should know where to find a Yanma.
Yanma
The player can also find a Yanma in the Crimson Mirelands (a little bit north of Ursa’s Ring, in Gapejaw Bog, in Droning Meadow, and in the southeast of Scarlet Bog) and in the Coronet Highlands (in the northern and western part of Heavenward Lookout). Yanma can be found in these locations in every weather condition but can only be found here during the day (morning, midday, or evening). Aside from that, Yanma can be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands.
If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Yanma’s preferred foods are Springy Mushroom, Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.
If you plan on battling a Yanma first before catching it, it is worth noting that Yanma is a Bug and Flying type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Electric type, Fire type, Flying type, Ice type, and especially Rock type moves (super effective), a resistance to Bug type and especially Fighting type and Grass type moves (not very effective), and an immunity to Ground type moves (no effect)
Ancient Power
Now that the player has caught a Yanma, one of the methods to evolve a Yanma to a Yanmega is by letting the Yanma learn Ancient Power.
Ancient Power is a Rock type special move where the Pokemon who is using the move will attack the opposing Pokemon with primeval power which may also raise the user’s offensive and defensive stats.
Yanma will learn the move Ancient Power when Yanma reaches Level 34. The player can level up Yanma by battling against other Pokemon, using Rare Candies, and using Exp. Candies.
Once Yanma has learned Ancient Power, the player should then equip the move to the Pokemon’s move set. To do that, this is what the player must do:
- First, press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
- Then, select Yanma in the player’s party which is on the right side of the Satchel.
- Next, on the prompt, select ‘Change moves’.
- After that, select ‘Ancient Power’ on the unequipped moves on the left side then select a move on Yanma’s move set on the right side to replace Ancient Power with.
- Next, press the X button to confirm the change then confirm on the prompt that you are happy with the new move set.
After that, Yanma can now use Ancient Power in battle!
Finally, Yanmega!
After catching a Yanma and letting it learn Ancient Power, the player can now evolve a Yanma into a Yanmega! To do that, this is what the player must do:
- If it is not already there, put the player’s Yanma in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps and selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
- Then, return to the game and press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
- Select the player’s Yanma, which has a glowing Poke Ball beside its name indicating that the Pokemon is ready to evolve. Select Evolve on the prompt, confirm on the next prompt to evolve Yanma, then just like that, Yanma will evolve into a Yanmega!
Now that the player has a Yanmega, the player can now try to use the Yanmega to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for the player which is to catch ‘em all!
