Ubisoft announced a few days ago that today would be the day that we learn more about the upcoming Far Cry 6. We were all expecting a simple gameplay video but Ubisoft came through with much, much more.
Ubisoft has announced today that Far Cry 6 releases October 7th, 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The announcement comes with a bunch of explosive gameplay, story details, videos, and details on the numerous editions that are available for pre-order starting today – and yes, there are more than a couple.
The biggie is, of course, the gameplay deep dive that gives us a look at the fictitious Yara and the conflict within its lands as guerrilla warfare has taken over everyday life.

Then we get a look at our new hero, Dani Rojas, a young woman who escaped Anton Castillo’s clutches but not without watching the people she loved die at his hands. She’s out for revenge and going by the Dani Rojas character trailer, she’ll do whatever it takes to get it.

There’s something to be said about the presentation of Far Cry 6, at least from these early cinematic trailers that splice gameplay with artfully directed cutscenes. There’s definitely a bigger focus on character this time around, specifically the character that we’ll take on a journey of revenge – Dani Rojas. She features prominently and for the first time in the Far Cry series, it looks like she may actually be a part of the in-game cutscenes, which would mean taking the first-person view away from the player during the appropriate moments. Or perhaps this is just something being done for the trailers?
So, pre-orders. When can you get them and what editions are there? You can pre-order now and there are a few different versions to choose from.
Far Cry 6 Standard Edition
Everybody who pre-orders Far Cry 6 (regardless of which edition) will receive the in-game Libertad Pack which comes with:
- Discos Locos – The Deadly Disc Launcher
- Libertad Chorizo – a dog with a spikey wheelchair
Far Cry 6 Gold Edition
The Gold Edition of Far Cry 6 will bag players the game, three DLCS and “more,” though the more has yet to be announced. More DLC, perhaps?
Far Cry 6 Ultimate Edition
The Ultimate Edition of Far Cry 6 comes with the contents of the Gold Editon as well as some bonus in-game packs:
- The Vice Pack
- The Croc Hunter Pack
- The Jungle Expedition Pack
Far Cry 6 Collector’s Edition
The Far Cry 6 Collector’s Edition comes with everything from the previous editions, plus some real-life trinkets including:
