Where to Find an Alpha Abomasnow in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the early days of the Pokemon universe when humans and Pokemon hardly coexisted.

The player will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (commonly known as the Galaxy Team) and the Survey Corps at Jubilife Village.

This game occurs in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh. To complete Hisui’s first Pokédex, the player must capture every type of Pokémon present in this area.

Alpha Pokemon exist in the Hisui region, are larger than their usual counterparts, have blazing red eyes, and are dripping with Wild Might, which boosts their stats and combat abilities.

This guide will teach you where to find an Alpha Abomasnow in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!

Alpha Pokemon

An Alpha Pokemon is always more powerful than its ordinary counterparts. Mantyke and Mantine are the only two who are not aggressive, and they never leave when challenged by the player (except for when the type of Alpha Pokemon appears during a certain time of day or if a Space-Time Distortion appears around them).

When the player approaches an Alpha Pokemon, it roars and emits a shockwave. If the player approaches too close, the shockwave may cause the player to stumble and fall to the ground.

The user can catch Alpha Pokemon of any level by battling them before tossing a Poke Ball. The player cannot catch them without battling if their obedience level is significantly lower than the Alpha Pokemon’s.

However, the player can avoid battling by sneaking up on Alpha Pokemon in tall grass or utilizing stealth items before tossing a Poke Ball their way.

Suppose the player has difficulty catching an Alpha Pokemon. In that case, they can increase their Survey Corps rank by completing Research Tasks and talking to Professor Laventon in any Base Camps.

There are three types of Alpha Pokemon that the player can find in the game: fixed Alpha Pokemon, which always spawn in the same areas and have the same level; random Alpha Pokemon, which may only appear after the player calms the area’s agitated Noble Pokemon; and Alpha Pokemon in Massive Mass Outbreaks, which may occur as a second wave in the same location as the first wave of a Mass Outbreak.

We will only look at fixed Alpha Pokemon, specifically an Alpha Abomasnow because the other two types are randomized.

Alpha Abomasnow

Abomasnow is a Grass and Ice-type Frost Tree Pokemon with a white and hairy body, a large head, a pair of pale purple eyes with very small pupils, bushy white eyebrows, a mouth covered by long strands of fur, tufts of long for on its chest and back, a pair of arms with spiky green hands, a pair of legs with spiky green feet, and four green spikes on its back that look like pinecones.

According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Abomasnow is a powerful Pokemon that can easily split large boulders.

Also, it does not like associating with others, so it chooses to live quietly and play in the snow in the mountains.

An Alpha Abomasnow is located southeast of Avalugg’s Legacy (northeast of Bonechill Wastes or south of the Pearl Settlement) in the Alabaster Icelands.

Abomasnow can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. The Alpha Abomasnow found in this location is a Level 68 Pokemon.

It is recommended to creep up behind the Alpha Pokemon with tall grass and/or other stealth items such as Smoke Bombs, then throw the player’s Pokemon or Poke Ball onto its back to catch it off guard.

Springy Mushrooms, Dazzling Honey, Crunchy Salts, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans are good foods to distract Abomasnow before you catch or battle it.

Also, it is important to mention, if you plan on battling it first before catching it, that Abomasnow, again, is a Grass and Ice-type Pokemon, which means it has a weakness to the Bug-type, Fighting-type, Flying type, Poison-type, Rock-type, Steel-type, and especially Fire-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Aside from the Alpha Abomasnow found in the location mentioned above, the regular, non-alpha Abomasnow can also be found in other parts of the Alabaster Icelands (in Avalugg’s Legacy and Glacier Terrace).

Aside from that, Abomasnow can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Coronet Highlands and the Alabaster Icelands.

Now that the player has caught an Alpha Abomasnow, the player can try to use the Alpha Abomasnow to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ‘em all!
