Learn where to find an Alpha Garchomp in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!
Pokemon Legends: Arceus took place in the early days of the Pokemon universe when people and Pokemon lived together severely.
In the Pokemon world, this game occurs in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh.
To complete Hisui’s first Pokédex, which they use to study Pokemon, the player must catch all of the Pokémon found in this region.
The player will be assigned to the Galaxy Expedition Team (aGalaxy Team) in Jubilife Village as a Survey Corps member tasked with studying every Pokemon in the region.
Alpha Pokemon in the game are larger than ordinary Pokemon, have flaming red eyes, and are loaded with Wild Might, which increases their stats and combat abilities.
This guide will teach us where to find an Alpha Garchomp in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!
Alpha Pokemon
Alpha Pokemon are always stronger than their regular counterparts. Except for Mantyke and Mantine, they are all hostile and never leave when faced by the player (except for when the type of Alpha Pokemon appears during a certain time of day or if a Space-Time Distortion appears around them).
When the player gets too close to an Alpha Pokemon, it roars and releases a shockwave. If the player is too close to the shockwave, they will be staggered and fall to the ground.
Any level of Alpha Pokemon can be caught by battling them before throwing a Poke Ball. If the player’s current obedience level is lower than the level of the Alpha Pokemon, they will be unable to catch them without participating in battle.
The player can avoid battling by sneaking up on Alpha Pokemon in tall grass or using stealth items before tossing a Poke Ball their way.
Players who have trouble catching an Alpha Pokemon can improve their Survey Corps rank by completing research tasks and speaking with Professor Laventon at any base Camp.
The player can encounter three types of Alpha Pokemon in the game: fixed Alpha Pokemon that always spawn in the same areas and have the same level as the player; random Alpha Pokemon that may only appear after the player calms the area’s frenzied Noble Pokemon; and Alpha Pokemon in Massive Mass Outbreaks that may appear as a second wave in the same location as the first wave of a Mass Outbreak.
We will only look at fixed Alpha Pokemon, an Alpha Garchomp, in Pokemon Legends: Arceus because the other two types are completely randomized.
Alpha Garchomp
Garchomp is a Ground and Dragon-type Mach Pokemon with a primarily dark blue body, a red underbelly, a chest, underside of its arms, jaw, a gold marking just under the red underbelly, a gold star marking on the tip of its snout. This head looks like that of a hammerhead shark’s, with appendages on both sides of its head that look like that of a plane’s engines, a pair of small gold eyes with black sclerae, a huge, wide mouth with a lot of sharp teeth, a pair of arms with a single white claw on each hand, a large and long fin on both of its wrist, a pair of small, white spikes on its upper arms and upper legs, gills on both sides of its neck, a pair of legs with three, white claws on each foot, three black lines on each foot, a large fin on its back, and large tail that looks like that of a shark’s that also has fins.
According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Garchomp flies through the skies at breakneck speed and has a ferocious demeanor. Additionally, extreme caution is recommended if encountering a Garchomp in the wild.
An Alpha Garchomp can be found in the southernmost part of Avalanche Slopes (southeast of Whiteout Valley and Icebound Falls) in the southwestern corner of the Alabaster Icelands. Garchomp can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. The Alpha Garchomp found in this location is a Level 85 Pokemon.
Sneak up behind the Alpha Pokemon with long grass and other stealth items like Smoke Bombs, then throw the player’s Pokemon or Poke Ball onto its back to catch it off guard and ensure that the player attacks first if battling.
It is also worth mentioning that the Alpha Garchomp is asleep in the morning, meaning it is easier to sneak up on it during the morning.
Garchomp loves Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans, so these are ideal baits for distracting it before catching or battling it.
Also, it is important to mention if you plan on battling it first before catching it, that Garchomp, again, is a Dragon and Ground-type Pokemon, meaning it is weak (super effective) to Fairy-type, Dragon-type, and especially Ice-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Fire-type, Poison-type, and Rock-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Electric-type moves.
Aside from the Alpha Garchomp in the location mentioned above, the regular, non-alpha Garchomp can be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Coronet Highlands.
Now that the player has caught an Alpha Garchomp, the player can try to use the Alpha Garchomp to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player to catch ‘em all!
